Hello VG Families and Staff,
NEW - Important Information Regarding SRVUSD’s Reopening Plan
Last night, 12/15, at the SRVUSD Board of Education meeting, the Board voted to approve the recommendation of staff to postpone the January 5, 2021 start of in-person instruction until Contra Costa County moves back into the red tier.
Beginning on January 5, 2021, all SRVUSD students will remain remote (and follow the remote bell schedule), but will do so with their Spring class assignments, so that as soon as it is safe to open to in-person instruction, we are prepared to make the change.
If you want more information about this decision, please join Dr. Malloy this afternoon at 5 p.m for a town hall meeting. They will use Thought Exchange to present information about the Board’s decision, to hear your thoughts, and to answer your questions in real time.
To participate in the town hall, please tune in to the District’s YouTube channel today at 5 p.m. for brief opening comments from Dr. Malloy and information on how to join the Thought Exchange.
With Gratitude,
:) Principal Juergens

Teacher/Schedule Change Requests
I have received some teacher/schedule change requests. Please note that requests are not being accepted at this time. As you can image after spending weeks putting students in classes the thought of dissolving all this is overwhelming as the goal is that we are still planning on reopening.
Know that our staff cares deeply about our students. Some of you may be nervous because your child's teacher is changing. Our teachers have grouped students based on your declaration choices into Term 2 placements (Remote or Hybrid) with thought and care, taking into account individual skill level, personality type, student strengths, next steps as well as keeping siblings together in either AM or PM. Student placements were crafted to enable teachers and paraeducators to target learning as well as maximize staff effectiveness. Outside the family unit, our teachers and paraeducators are the most important people to our children right now. We need to enable them to do their job in the best ways possible. Change requests destabilize student learning groups, lesson the ability to target learning, and teach effectively. We will get through these challenges together as our teachers, staff, students and families will continue to work together as a TEAM.
When Contra Costa County moves into the red tier and SRVUSD reopens for in-person learning your child will transition with the same teacher, students, and classroom routines. We are looking forward to reopening and know that we will be ready when the time comes.
