Thank You To Our Southeast Family!

We are grateful to have had over a month of school without having a need to quaratine any classrooms. All safety precautions have been in place at Southeast and our students, staff, and families are to be commended for the efforts to keep everyone safe. We will continue to practice the safety guidelines in the link below, as these efforts will keep us all safe and IN school. We want to thank our families for being extra cautious and observant of any symptoms and seek medical attention as needed. We recognize this has caused additional absences for students and staff when the need to stay home is for precautionary reasons, but we know this practice is helpful. Working together and following these guidelines will keep our students healthy and learning!

2nd Semester Enrollment Window

Without action, your child will continue with his or her current learning mode (online or in-person) during second semester.

During the enrollment window from October 29 – November 13, you will be able to change learning options in the Parent Portal. An email will be sent on October 29 to remind you of your student’s current learning mode. There will be a link to the portal if you would like to make a change. There will be an enrollment phone help line set up during the window to answer individual questions (Help line 816-359-4044 and email will be available during business hours from October 29 – November 13.)

Link to presentation to the Board regarding the enrollment window from Thursday, October 8th.

College T-Shirt Days

As an AVID school, Southeast promotes College and Career Readiness. When students believe in their capabilities, they develop a foundational confidence to learn and set goals for their futures. We decided to implement something new and FUN to celebrate all the efforts being made to prepare our students for college! Plan to enjoy "College Spirit Days" on the FIRST FRIDAY of every month. This means all staff and students may wear a college shirt! Our next college t-shirt day will be on Friday, November 6th!

PTA Adopt-A-Superstar Staff

Our amazing PTA is working to continue supporting our Southeast staff during these difficult times. If you are interested in "adopting" a staff member, please use the SignUp Genius link below. Those who decide to "adopt" a staff member will send their adopted staff member nice notes, snacks, etc. throughout the school year. Erin Rau will send out monthly reminders and ideas. You can use the Southeast Staff Member Favorite Things Google Doc to get ideas specific to the staff member you adopt.

Thank you for your continued support of our amazing staff!

2020 Parent Teacher Conferences

Due to the changes in our school calendar this year, we do not have designated days scheduled for traditional Parent Teacher Conferences. Any conferences will be held virtually on an "as-needed" basis. In fact, many conferences, or meetings with parents/guardians occur each and every day! First quarter report cards will be available to families on November 6th. Your classroom teacher will keep you up-to-date on your child's progress. However, if you have questions or seek additional information, please reach out to your classroom teacher to schedule an opportunity to discuss your child's areas of strength and areas for growth.

Continued Focus on Safety Precautions

Mask Care

As we continue to implement precautions to ensure everyone’s safety during this time, we want to remind you about the importance of sending children to school in clean masks that are washed daily. A clean mask will help stop the spread of germs and will help limit the amount of germs that come in to contact with your child’s face. Please see this information from the CDC on how to properly clean cloth face masks. If your child prefers to wear disposable masks, please send them in a new, clean disposable mask every day. Thank you for your help in keeping our Superstars healthy!

Water Bottles

Please continue to send your child(ren) to school with a water bottle each day. This is extremely important, so that students can avoid using water fountains. As you know, students often struggle to use a water fountain without putting their mouth in the same space as other fountain users.

Do you know a Park Hill Star?

The Park Hill Star recognition program was started in 2015 to celebrate support staff and teachers whose work is especially noteworthy.

The following is an overview of the Park Hill Star Program:

Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students. That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee.

Southeast Communication

You will find several ways to stay up to date on school activities on the Southeast website , Facebook, and newsletters from your child’s teacher. You will also occasionally get an automated email or voicemail message sent to you, by the school, with important information and reminders. We know two-way communication is best, so please feel free to call or email with any questions you may have regarding your child’s education.
