First Grade Weekly News
Week of October 9th-13th
Reminders
This Week...
- Monday, October 9th - Teacher Workday - No School for students
- Wednesday, October 11th - Field Trip Permission forms and money are due.
- Send in money if you would like tickets for the Fall Festival
- First grade team will have 5 activities going on at the Fall Festival. We will be on our hallway. Come and see us!
- Face painting, tattoos, Halloween toss, pumpkin bowling and bucket toss.
Field Trip
- We will be taking a field trip to Mike's Farm on Wednesday, October 25th.
- Please make sure you are sending in forms and money by Wednesday Oct. 11.
General
- Please check and sign your child's agenda nightly.
- Students must bring agendas and take home folders to and from school everyday.
- Whenever there is a transportation change it MUST be hand written in their agenda.
- Library- Please make sure your child brings their library books back to exchange for new books.
- Please bring in a snack and water bottle daily.
- When your class starts bringing iPad home, please make sure you charge them nightly and return them to school each day.
- Excuse notes must be submitted within 2 days of your child's return to school.
- If your child is absent for sickness or a trip, they will receive missed work when they return to school. This is a schoolwide policy.
- The courtyard is open. You can come and eat lunch with your child. Check with your teacher for your classroom lunch time.

- All Homework activities will be sent home on at the beginning of the week and will be due on Friday.
What we are learning...
ELA
We will be learning how to retell details in a story. We will continue to practice asking questions when we read. We will locate different text features in our stories.
***Our Science connection will be amazing animals and pumpkins.
Math
We will learn about subtraction strategies. We will work on using addition problems to subtract. This will lead us into talking about fact famililes and related facts.
The homework for this week will be focused on the addition skills we learned last week.

Rule ck only comes at the end of words.

Money can be added to students accts. by using the linq app (student number will be needed).
If you send in (cash/check) with your child, please put it in a zip-lock bag with their name on it.
