Author and Illustrator Laura Baran's SKYPE Visit By Ben
The fourth grade had a Skype visit with author and illustrator Laura Baran in the library about the book called ‘’Roses Summer of Arts and Dreams.’’
This book we read was really sad because Rose did not believe in herself and thought she could not do anything good but at the same time this book is exciting because Rose's aunt comes and she makes Rose feel good about herself by telling her about an affirmation painting.
Laura Baran got to talk about herself and she answered a lot of our questions and we learned a whole lot of facts about her.
We asked her about her pictures in the book and she said that her friend took the photographs and she did the painting of the photographs.
My favorite part of the book is when Rose's aunt comes and convinces Rose to believe in herself and love herself so she does what she likes and doesn't think that other people can hold her back.
Beading with Mr. Harned by Madison
Fourth grade is studying the Haudenosaunee so we invited Mr. Harned to come to school and show different beading techniques from the Native American tradition. He also showed us different rattles made out of gourds and gourds that he made into pots.
Mr. Harned made looms for beading and students got to try it out. Beading is easy if you really pay attention about how to do it. Beading can be made into many different things such as handles for rattles, belts, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and to decorate moccasins. Gourd rattles can be painted with different designs like animals, flowers, really anything. Maybe sometime you can get a book from the library and learn how to bead and decorate gourds like the Native Americans.

Movie Night by Brandon
Yes it's that time again, Enfield's second movie night this year will be watching "Sing". The movie is about a little koala bear who bought a theater and opened it. His dad worked all his life to make sure his son could buy the theater. He did this by working at the carwash and trying to do a singing contest. That part did not work out. If you want to see the rest come down to Enfield Elementary School Tuesday November 21st. If you are reading this after you already saw the movie here or in the theaters think to yourself what part did you like the best.

Fifth Grade Learns About The Inuit by Brandon
The Inuit and Pueblo had very strong beliefs. These beliefs made their tribes what they were. The Inuit believe in magical powers. Inuit believe that they need to let seals have a sip of freshwater before they kill the animal because if they do not their family will be cursed with bad luck. Inuit also believed that shaman could tell the future.A shaman is a member of the inuit tribe who was very important. Inuit sometimes feared shaman because they could be evil. In comparison Pueblo do not believe in magic. Instead, Pueblo believe everything has a spirit. Also pueblo where thankful no matter what. If they had a small amount of meat at the end of the day, they were thankful for it. If they had a large portion, they would thank the spirits for the kill. No matter what the size of their bounty, they were thankful.
Inuit and Pueblo tribes lived in different ways and in different types of homes. furthermore Pueblo built homes from adobe and sandstone. The Pueblo shaped sandstone to build with. Inuit summer homes were built with whalebones and driftwood which were shaped to build with. In fall, and spring inuit used whalebones, stones, and wood to build homes.Inuit built wood planks to construct homes. Only in winter Inuit built iglooś.Inuit summer homes were built with whalebones and driftwood which were shaped to build with. Pueblo homes were either built in rows or groups.the homes were only accessed by ladder
The traditional Inuit did not have a government until 1999.If we go 4000 years back the oldest Inuit was the wisest for leading and always took advice From the shaman. In comparison Pueblo families are called clans. All of the pueblo villages have councils. Also pueblo have village laws and the Pueblo have always had them. The key difference is traditional Inuit never had laws until 1999.lastly Pueblo have always had clans sort of like laws. Pueblo homes were either built in rows or groups. The homes of the Pueblo were only accessed by ladder.
Despite these differences in their tribes, the Inuit and Pueblo have many similarities to.Both tribes have beliefs and both tribes thank the animal they kill before they kill it.The Inuit and the Pueblo both believe that everything has a spirit. Also, both tribes houses protected them from the harsh weather. Furthermore, both the Inuit and Pueblo have a government and they live by village laws.
The Inuit and Pueblo had very strong beliefs, governments and housing. These beliefs housing and government made their tribes what they were. Furthermore now you know about of the Inuit and Pueblo similarities and differences.

A Personal Narrative by Evan
Instruments
By: Evan Rider
I got back from gym. It was 8:30. I was sitting on the brown carpet. I thought in my head, “Why are we on the carpet? Usually we sit at are desks.” Mr. Brooks said “We have a guest coming in.” Ten seconds later she walked in. I said in my head “Why is she here? Why would she come here?” Then she said “Hi I’m Miss. Boyce your new band teacher. “ I thought, Are we playing an instrument this year?” Then she gave us this signup form.
So I went home and signed it. Caiden saw me. He said, “ha ha you will never play that this year you don’t know any notes.” I said, “I know I can and I will prove it to you” Caiden said, “Ha sure?” then I felt sad. The next day I got my instrument. I almost bursted into exited tears. There it was my saxophone!
The next day it was my lesson time. When I got there I tried my hardest on my instrument. While playing my brother Caiden was walking down the hall to pick up the basket. He went by the music room and saw me. He watched me play line after line. My brother was really wrong about me and he felt selfish. I felt happy my brother said “I’m sorry that I said that mean stuff to you”. I said “it’s ok”. The next day he saw me play again and the next lesson and the next. Then after I was done with a lesson “Congrats you did it,” “I said gee thanks” “He said no problem”.
