From the Principal's Desk

Hello Rose Pioneer Families and Welcome Back!

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a cafeteria/recess supervisor, please have her/him contact the office, (248) 328-3800, to discuss immediate openings at Rose Pioneer. This position offers a unique opportunity to work 3.5 hours per day on our students' school schedule.

Please remember there is no school for students this Monday, January 16th as we honor and remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Additionally, next Friday, January 20th is Popcorn Friday at Rose Pioneer.

As we head into the stretch between the start of new year and spring break, please be reminded of a couple of important items. Remind and other texting apps make it quick and easy to communicate with teachers, but please be sure to contact the office anytime your child is going to be out sick, or if a change needs to be made to their daily pick up or latchkey. If it's after hours, a message can be left on the attendance line at 248.328.3814. We are doing a great job of reaching our building attendance goal this year. Please continue to send your child to school unless s/he is sick or has a doctor's appointment. Thank you!

Students must be dressed for outside weather every day at school since they spend a minimum of 25 minutes outside on the playground for recess and this is also a safety concern in the event of an emergency requiring us to vacate the building. Our play pad on the large playground is generally plowed during heavier snow, but students are also encouraged to wear boots and snow pants in order to play in the snow and avoid coming in wet from recess. We appreciate parents ensuring that children leave the house dressed for the winter weather each day.

If you aren't already connected, please like Rose Pioneer Elementary School on Facebook and @RosePioneerEl on Twitter.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Michael Beattie
