* Thank you to all the families that meet with me this week for Parent-Teacher Conferences. I really enjoyed meeting with you and sharing how your child is doing in Second Grade. If you have not scheduled a conference, please email me and we can set up a conference in person, or hold a phone conference if that works best for you. Thank you again for your Partnership in your child's education!
* Top Chef's have done a great job learning about Geography. Students enjoyed making Salt-Dough Maps! I hope everyone's arrived home safe and sound :). Can you locate Virginia, the Appalachian Mountain Range, the Rocky Mountain Range, the James River, the Mississippi River, the Rio Grande River, and the Great Lakes : Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake Michigan on a map of the United States? Students also identified Mexico, Canada, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
* In Science we have begun our unit on States Of Matter. Ask your child what the 3 states of matter are. Top Chefs have been learning about Atoms (particles) and how they move in Solids, liquids and Gases. Students are making predictions, and conducting experiments to see what they notice.
Our Classroom Scientists could use the following items for upcoming experiments...
2 pints heavy whipping cream
4 boxes of cornstarch
1 gallon vinegar
2 pkgs milk chocolate chips
1 pkg yeast
2 boxes baking soda
1 box raisins
*** Your donations would be greatly appreciated!***
ACAM Math assessments have begun. Students are doing a great job with number patterns. Top chefs have been counting by 2's, 5's 10's and 100's.
Our ST Math days are on Wednesdays and Fridays. Play the Grey :)
* Students have been enjoying writing in our Handwriting Books, listening to literature and writing stories that relate to characters, experiences, and text to self connections. We were excited to have Miss. brown come read a wonderful book called "A Chair For My Mother", by Vera B. Williams. Top Chefs talked about Human resources, Income, Savings and a savings goal.
