Red Hill Lutheran 2020-2021
December Issue
Principal's Corner
What a fun time of the year. Busy, yes; however it is truly a special time as everyone throughout the world focuses on the birth of Jesus, who is the CHRIST our Savior! Or do they? While everyone certainly looks forward to celebrating CHRISTmas, it appears that some don’t stop to ask what it is truly all about. I was recently in one of our local large home improvement stores over the Thanksgiving break and was very saddened to not find any nativity sets (large or small) in the CHRISTmas (or ‘holiday’) décor section. Curious, I asked one of the associates who told me that there must not be much demand for them if the buyers did not buy them for the stores.
I pray that you will share with your family and friends the true importance of the CHRISTmas season celebration. As we are clearly told in The Bible (John 3:16), ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal live!’ Have a blessed and joyful CHRISTmas.

Vote Now! Top Teachers & Employees 2021 Nominations
As an RHLS Community Member, you have this special invitation to nominate any RHLS Teacher or Employee for the School Heroes of OC Schools Award. As a member or the RHLS community you know how hard every teacher and staff member works, and can truly appreciate all that each person does to go above and beyond. You know personally, what teachers and staff members do to educate, inspire and motivate children to dream. They provide Christian examples, and share with them God's love on a daily basis.
This is an opportunity to tell others about what you feel about some of our teachers and staff here at RHLS, and why they should be considered as a Top Teacher/School Employee in Orange County (aka a School Hero).
The School Heroes nomination process is open now through December 13. Please prayerfully consider taking time to nominate a teacher or staff member you feel is truly a School Hero, by going to Parenting OC’s website https://parentingoc.com/top-teachers/#// link. You may nominate any teacher or staff member at RHLS. Your spouse, relatives, and friends may also enter their own individual nominations (the more the better). You will be asked for the name of the teacher or staff member, their email address and phone number (please use the school phone number of 714-544-3132). You will have 400 words maximum to describe why you feel the teacher or staff member is a Top School Hero in Orange County.
I thank you in advance for your time and prayerful consideration of this competitive nomination process for the teachers and staff here at RHLS. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Red Hill Lutheran Church
Hello Red Hill families,
As we close the year, our Youth and Family Ministry team would love for you to know that you are so loved, prayed for, thought of, and cared for! Our team has been lifting you by name before the throne of our God of Wonders! While much of this year has caught us all off guard, it is important to remember and reflect on the fact that God was not surprised by any of this – and He loves us each step of the way!
Our team would love to support you more closely in the coming year and we want to invite you to join us in our ministries for preschool, K-5, Middle School (6-8), High School, or even if you have College or Post High School people in your family! If you don’t have a church home, we would love for you to join ours! If you haven’t been to church in awhile, we warmly invite you to come back (virtually or in person!). If you would like to sit and talk over a coffee, please let me ask you to reach out to one of us and we will happily buy!
As I close this little note to you, I wanted to leave you with a sweet gift for this season of waiting – the season of Advent. As we look to the manger we will see the thrill of hope that a weary world rejoices in – Jesus! Amazing how much more those words mean to us, right? These digital downloads allow you and your family to spend a bit of time each day leading up to Christmas in a short devotion that will help prepare your hearts and minds for the coming Savior King!
Rejoicing in Jesus with you,
Shelli J. Haynes, DCE

OVERVIEW:
The Christmas season is filled with many celebrations, but Jesus being born is the biggest reason to celebrate! Even though we have heard the story of baby Jesus many times by now; for the youngest kids, it's still a fairly new story that they usually only hear once a year. In addition to all the holiday tidings, remind your kids that they can celebrate God's plan for God's plan for Jesus' birth. We can worship Jesus and celebrate because God keeps His Promises!
