UIL Concert & Sight-reading Evaluations
The concert portion consists of each group performing 3 pieces off of a state-wide Prescribed Music List. Groups are adjudicated on elements of pitch and rhythmic accuracy, tone, blend, balance, dynamics, phrasing, technique, musicality, and artistry. The sight-reading portion consists of each group performing a piece of music with 6 minutes to only visually study and analyze the music, then they must perform the song (again, without ever having heard it) for a panel of three judges who are listening for 100% accuracy, while maintaining the essential elements of tone, balance, blend, phrasing, and musicality.
These evaluations represent an entire year's worth of growth and development by each of the groups and their student members. The judges evaluate the choirs against the HIGHEST standards of excellence with the understanding that there is no possibility of advancing to another level of competition. Unlike most other UIL events, Concert & Sight-reading Evaluations are judged only once, only on the regional level, and are evaluated at a state-level difficulty for all groups.
Please see the attached file below for all the details for what your student needs to wear, where they need to be on Wednesday, and when.
Please join us in wishing all of the students who are performing the best of luck!
2019 Tour to Orlando
As of Monday, April 8, all trip balances in Charms are up-to-date and reflect all available fundraising credited towards student trips. The amount listed should reflect the final pay-off amount on your trip. We need to get those final balances in by the middle of this month so that we can get our final payment off to our travel agency.
Instructions for how to login and check balances in Charms are provided on our website. Here is a direct link to those instructions: http://www.centralhighchoir.org/charms/
Sign-ups for hotel room groups and details about our trip meeting will be shared soon.
The HarmoniCats: Broadway!
Please make plans to attend our annual show on Friday, April 26, at 7:00pm in the Sarah Bernhardt Theater at Central High School. Admission is only $5 and you may pay at the door.
If you want to support the group and have a cool new t-shirt for your wardrobe, purchasing a show shirt gets you free admission to the show and priority seating. Show choir members are taking orders for shirts this week with all orders and money being due on Friday, April 12. You may also place your order online and pay with a credit card by clicking the picture above or by visiting the following link: http://successprint.shop/Harmonicats
Reminder: Check Your Charms Accounts
Please remember that any outstanding and unresolved fundraisers, fees, and fines will be submitted to the CHS Hold List. Being on the hold list prevents students from purchasing parking permits, registering for classes, checking out text books, graduating, etc. If you find your name on one of these lists, please take steps to resolve it ASAP. If you think there is an error, let a director know. If you know you owe something, please get the money turned in. It will not magically go away. :)
We are asking for your help and cooperation to get all of these items resolved prior to May. Thank you for your help with this.
