Friday Tidbits
Second Grade
Dear Parents,
Our biggest event during this short week was having our Seneca Academy pen pals visit us! We took them on a tour of the school, did a pattern block design activity, had a delicious snack, and played outdoors on our playground. It was so special for us to meet after writing to each other for three months. We are grateful to Seneca Academy for driving to CHS and to our faculty and staff for making them feel welcome during their tour of the building.
In math we are learning about quadrangles (quadrilaterals) and parallel lines. Children are also practicing to see how quickly they can recall their basic addition and subtraction facts. Please continue to practice these facts with your children at home. You can use flash cards, calling out facts orally to them, math apps, or any method that suits you and your kids. The practice of math facts also helps as we move on to more challenging addition and subtraction problems with double and triple digits.
The children are working very hard with taking notes on their arctic animals for their reports. Some are writing their rough drafts. Ask your children where they are in the writing process and let them tell you about some facts they have learned about their animals.
Stay warm and safe during the storm. Enjoy being with your family!
