At Simmons Elementary School, We're Better Together
On Monday, we kicked off our One School, One Book program with our new book, Fenway and Hattie, by Victoria Coe. Each year, we choose a book to read as an entire school community. Each family should have received a copy of the book, courtesy of our Simmons HSA. As part of Read Across America Day, we had community leaders read aloud the first chapter of our book. Remember to complete the raffles slip that can be sent in on Fridays with your student. (Extra slips are available in the library for siblings.) Please help us promote the importance of family reading time by reading with your children each evening. We have planned activities all month including a service project, a dog show, and a visit from the author of the book at the end of the month. There will be a lot of excitement around this book, and we want every family to join in by reading along each night!
Your family can also read along with our “celebrity readers”. Videos of our teachers reading each night’s pages are posted online. Visit the Simmons website and click on the book to access the page or click the link below. You will also find pictures of some of our Simmons Staff’s Pets on the page.
