Are there foods our pets can't eat?

Have you ever wondered...
Are there foods our pets can't eat?
What makes dogs or cats get sick?
Why do we need to take our pets to the vet clinic?
If you have a pet, especially if you have a dog, you know that they can be just like vacuum cleaners sometimes. They pick up after us when we drop that hot dog on the ground, or that tiny piece of cookie that missed our mouths. Before your mom or dad can see, you quickly get Skip to run over and clean up the mess you've made. Have you ever wondered if there are foods that our dogs or cats aren't allowed to eat though?
It's probably never crossed your mind because we know that humans can eat almost any food in the world without a problem. However, many people in the world have food allergies. You might even have one yourself. Imagine if someone fed you the food that you're allergic to and how sick that would make you. This is sort of how it is for dogs and cats: basically, they aren't allowed to digest certain foods.
Things dogs & cats are allergic to
Dogs can't eat...
- chocolate
- garlic
- ice cream (or really any dairy products)
- coffee
- cat food
- or grapes
- any kind of baby food
- canned tuna
- chocolate
- grapes
- or dog food
Our pets can get extremely sick if they get a hold of any of these foods. If your pet has ever been very sick, chances are they have eaten something that they cannot digest. It's important to look out for our pets and to watch what foods they eat. We should always take our pets to the vet at least once a year to make sure that their health is top notch. Of course, if your pet ever comes into contact with these foods, they should be taken to the vet right away to be taken care of and made all better again.
