From the Principal's Desk

THANK YOU!!! We feel so appreciated this week, Kim Alongi and her committee have done an incredible job showering the Lincoln staff with treats, lunches, and even car washes. This was greatly appreciated, as everyone knows this year has been a remarkable one. As educators we have been working tirelessly to ensure learning, engagement, and most of all a sense of belonging is established at Lincoln and across D303. This week teachers received your messages of gratitude that I collected, flowers, poems, and again the breakfasts and lunches throughout this week have made it very special. Thank you all for your support this year!

Next week most classes will take the final iReady diagnostic assessment on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. We look forward to reviewing this data with our leadership team and celebrate all the learning that has taken place this year.

As the year wraps down and summer approaches there are still so many opportunities for students to share their learning, build excitement, and continue to grow daily. Below is information from the St. Charles Public Library they have a wonderful summer reading program.

Take a few minutes to ask your son or daughter about the following depending on their grade. (also many pictures highlight all that we are doing these days.)

Kindergarten--How are the chicks? When you held them this week, how did they feel?

First Grade-Are your plants growing? What are you doing with the cereal box?

Second Grade-What stage is your caterpillar in?

Third Grade-What survey did you create and collect data on?

Fourth Grade-What book is your reading for book club? What have you learned about the World's Fair?

Fifth Grade-How do you calculate the area of a figure? How does a closed ecosystem work? What are you excited about in Wredling or Thompson video that you watched today?

Summer Camp opportunities at Davis Elementary

All students entering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade next fall are welcome to participate in the elementary string program. Our goal is to provide meaningful learning experiences in music and develop individual student achievement and appreciation of music. The elementary instrumental music program also provides excellent preparation for the middle school and high school bands and orchestras.

There are four string instruments for students to choose from. Click on these links to learn more about each instrument.

Orchestra Parent Information Virtual Meeting

If you are interested in enrolling your child in orchestra for the 2021-2022 school year, please attend one of our Orchestra New Parent (Virtual) Information Meetings. You will hear more about our D303 Orchestra program, and have a chance to ask any questions you may have. For your convenience, one of the D303 preferred instrument rental vendors will be at each meeting to assist you with renting an instrument. At the end of the presentation, there will be breakout rooms so that we can meet and I can answer any questions specific to Munhall or Lincoln School. Both meetings are identical. Choose the one that works best for you!

Can’t attend either night? The meeting will be recorded and available for viewing at your convenience.
