Mrs. Salemi's Classroom News!
November 2020
As we approach Thanksgiving it is a great time of year to think about all of the things we are grateful for in our lives. During these unprecedented times, I am especially thankful for my students and families that bring me so much joy on a daily basis. Don't forget to take time to let others know just how grateful you are for them. :)
Thanks for your support,
Mrs. Salemi
Important Information-Switch to Hybrid
4th grade will be shifting to hybrid instruction on November 9th! Want to help prepare your child? Please review Apollo's Hybrid Expectations Presentation with your child. It includes important expectations that will need to be followed during in-person instruction.
As a reminder, school supplies will be provided for hybrid instruction. Students should bring the following back and for to school each day:
Mask
Chromebook
Eureka Math Workbooks
Math whiteboards
Headphones
Eureka Math Workbooks
Water Bottle
Backpack
Change of Clothing for Emergencies
Here is the entire list of what will stay at school, stay at home and what students will need to bring back and forth to school each day. Since chromebooks will be traveling back and forth from home to school-please make sure they get charged each night.
A reminder that even though in-person learning will be happening in the morning, students are still required to work remotely from home from 12:55 pm-2:25 pm. Students will be having the same schedule they currently have each afternoon and access my learning plan through 63 Online. This will include PFA's, Science/Social Studies, and Social-Emotional Learning.

October Enrichment
Here is what we have been learning about last month!
- We finished out first unit in our new reading curriculum, Units of Study by Lucy Calkins! Yay! Students worked diligently by taking a deeper look at their characters, made interpretations, and focused on the theme. We look forward to our next unit which will focus on nonfiction.
Writing:
- We finished our first unit in our new writing curriculum as well! Students really focused on small moments and made their personal narratives come alive by adding detail, dialogue and feelings. We will be starting our next unit in writing which will focus on opinion writing pieces.
Math:
- We have started Module 3 and will soon be taking the Mid Module Assessment. We will continue with the second half of Module 3 which includes a deeper look into both multiplication and division.
- Need help getting a better understanding of math?? Check out my website or here for more support!
Science/Social Studies:
- We have been learning about different types of government and what it means to be a good citizen.
SELS (Social Emotional Learning Standards):
- Our theme for the month of October was RESPONSIBILITY. Students did a variety of activities, writing responses, and reading all about Responsibility. We learned that in order to be successful in both school and at home we have to be responsible for certain things.
Happy Halloween!
