Here we are, the LAST Friday of the school year! What a fast and fabulous ride it has been.

Next Wednesday, June 1, is our last day of school. It is a short day (school is out at 1:30) and also Field Day. There is NO BASE on the last day of school. However, there is BASE on Tuesday.

We need volunteers to help with Field Day. Please contact your child's teacher to see how you can help.

All the games and activities are staffed but your child's teacher would LOVE help wrangling kids :) Field Day is 9:00 - 1:30. All volunteers receive FREE lunch. PLEASE do not bring younger siblings or non-Bridge children to Field Day.

Please keep up on your emails and social media if possible as these are the first methods of communication with parents.

Have a terrific weekend and we will see you TUESDAY since Monday is Memorial Day and there is NO SCHOOL.

Choir Teacher for BASE Next Year

Next year we will have choir as an option for BASE. We are looking for an individual willing to teach choir. The individual is paid for two hours day - one for BASE 3:30 - 4:30 and one for prep and planning. This individual must work M-TH. There will be approximately 15 students in each class. We will have two sessions. One session is August - December and the other session, January - May. The students will perform at the Roy Lighting ceremony in November and at the end of the year in May. Pay is $14 - $16 hour depending on experience. Individuals must be GREAT with kids and able to pass an FBI background check.

Interested parties should send a resume to Mrs. Rounds Lani@BridgeCharter.org

Field Day June 1

Wednesday, June 1, is the last day of school. It is a short day and school is released at 1:30. It is also Field Day! We have lots of FUN activities for kids - bounce houses, face painting, games, a magician and an end of year movie. Students will be outside for a majority of the day. PLEASE send your child with a water bottle and sunscreen. Students in grades 4-6 may want to bring a towel as they will have a water activity in place of bounce houses. Students in grades K-3 will not have a water activity.

Yearbooks (or an autograph book for those who did not purchase yearbooks) will be distributed that morning and each grade has time set aside for yearbook signing.

Volunteer Hours - Monthly Chores

One of the ideas from the parent survey included having "monthly chores" that families could participate in to earn volunteer hours. We LOVE this idea and starting next year we will have a list of monthly chores that will help your family earn volunteer hours and help Bridge's grounds remain safe and clean. In fact, families do not need to wait until next year to begin earning volunteer hours.

The chores that can help us out the most:

  • Pull weeds in the gravel areas in front of the school and the side of the school that runs parallel with 4800 S.
  • Sweep and clean under the front portico.
  • Sweep and clean the gutters in the parking lot.
  • Pull weeds in the small area on the south side of the school just behind the portico area.

Just keep track of your hours and multiply by the number of family members who participate. For example, if four of your family spend two hours volunteering that totals 8 volunteer hours. You enter your hours on our website under EVENTS > Volunteer Opportunities:

Visible Learning - Summer Challenge

This summer we are doing the Visible Learning Challenge!

Each student will receive a GREEN challenge paper. If your child did not bring one home you can download it from our website under EVENTS > SCHOOL EVENTS.

https://www.bridgecharter.org/school-events

Students will demonstrate each of the traits over the summer and record the information on the chart. A FULL chart can be turned at the beginning of the school year for a drawing for FABULOUS prizes!

Our mission is to empower students to take ownership of their own learning. By learning, practicing and embracing these visible learning traits, students will have the skills needed to become accountable for their own lifelong learning. You can find the six Visible Learning traits on our website at Visible Learning

Save Your Slightly Used School Clothes for Back to School Night Uniform Swap

During Back to School Night , August 11, we will have tables set up for a uniform swap. Our uniform swap does not involve any money. Instead, parents bring their slightly used school clothes (dress code pants and shirts), fold them nicely and place them on the table according to size. Parents take items that they need for their children.

How Can I Help My Kiddo This Summer?

Parents always ask WHAT can kids do over the summer to reduce the "summer slide"? We are SUPER lucky at Bridge as our Imagine Learning vendor will keep student access available until about July 30. Even our 6th graders who are leaving us for bigger pastures can still use Imagine Learning. Imagine is such a great option as it is adaptive and knows what students know and what they need to learn. If your child uses Imagine Learning just 20 - 30 minutes, 4X week over the summer, they could potentially eliminate the academic regression that occurs over the summer.

Lost & Found

PLEASE grab your children's items from the Lost & Found. The Friday after school is out ALL items will be donated.

Closed Toe Shoes

Just a reminder - students cannot wear shoes with open toes (sandals, flip flops, etc.) to school - even on dress down days. Students are required to wear closed toe shoes every day to school.

Breakfast & Lunch Next School Year

Our hearts are broken to announce this.....the flyer below explains that beginning NEXT school year, breakfast and lunch are no longer automatically free for students. Instead, parents will need to complete the free/reduced meal application through Aspire. The new application will be available in July. We will notify parents when the application is available. FREE or REDUCED meals will apply to students based on parent income, homeless status, and SNAP status.

Dinner, which students receive when attending BASE, our after school program, will still be FREE for students.
