Fulton County Schools Statement Regarding Nashville Tragedy
We at Fulton County Schools are painfully aware of the tragedy in Nashville and join the community in mourning their loss. As we follow each of these tragic events, we continue to learn from others’ experience and monitor our own processes.
FCS has continually made investments in the safety and security efforts for our district. The extensive listing of security measures, certifications, trainings, and emergency protocols already in place are readily available for the public. Detailed explanations of these efforts are included in our Safety Plans and Drills and Investments in Safety documents, which can be found on the Culture of Safety page of our website.
Parents know their children best and whether they may need additional support during this time. We have these resources available to help parents and teachers talk with children and teens about violence. We encourage parents to reach out to our school counselors, social workers, psychologists and administrators if they or their student need help.
Safety
Our school is fully live with Centegix, our wearable badge crisis alert system, and our staff has been trained. This crisis alert badge empowers staff to act and respond in crisis situations. Centegix allows for immediate staff alerts (medical, elopement, behavior, etc...) as well as immediate lockdown alerts by all staff and teachers wearing a Centegix badge. All teachers and staff are required to wear the badge while on our school campus.

Student Laptop Care during Spring Break
Please take a moment to review the following protocols for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th to keep devices in good working order over the break:
- At the beginning of break, make sure all open applications are closed and the device is fully powered off.
- Store the laptop in a safe place at home. Laptops should not be taken on trips or left in cars.
- Laptops are for school use only and not for personal activities. Unless the student has a school assignment, the laptop should not be used during break.
- At the end of break, plug the laptop in to fully charger before returning to school.
