Greetings Elm Families,

Wow! What an amazing first couple of days together! Our students did a fantastic job everyday learning The Elm Way. They spent time building community in classrooms, learning their locks, setting the standard for the year and we rounded our the week together with our "First Friday" celebration pep assembly!

Next week students will begin attending classes following our traditional bell schedule, diving into curriculum, and exploring their learning with their teachers. We can't wait to see them in action. As a reminder Monday, September 5, 2022 is a non-attendance day in observation of Labor Day!

This week in curriculum, the teachers spent time acclimating the students to the "ELM WAY." Students gained knowledge of executive functioning skills and strategies to be successful in their academic courses and to navigate difficult social situations. I had the opportunity to make it into most of the classrooms this week and was able to experience the unbelievable level of care and consideration the Elm teachers provided for their students. In the upcoming weeks, I will be highlighting specific aspects of our curriculum and the learning products of our students.

This week, I would like to recognize the entire ELM Academic Team! Your efforts for our students is simply remarkable; thank you for your efforts.

The adminstrative team will begin with a presentation in the main gym at Elm at 5:30pm, you'll then have an opportunity to meet all of your student's teachers. Our evening will conclude at 7:00pm.

Cougar athletics are in full swing, and our teams have all been working hard even during summer to get ready for their first games and meets! Good Luck, Cougars!! Make us proud!

Bus

Take a few minutes and review the bus transportation information for the 2022-2023 school year here.

Students can arrive to their stop as early as 7:15.

If a bus is running late, the bus company will reach out to administrators at Elm, and we will then reach out to families through email.

Entrance Procedures

In order to ensure our students are entering safely we will have make sure to utilize our school-wide entrance procedures this year. Students arriving after 7:51am will all report to Door 1. They are as follows:

6th Grade: Entrance at Door 1

Bus Riders: Entrance at Door 2

7th Grade: Entrance at Door 3

8th Grade: Entrance at Door 4

Breakfast

All students getting breakfast will enter at Door 1 beginning at 7:30am!

If a student is going to be absent from class, a parent or guardian should call our Attendance Clerk at (708) 583-6600 or email elmattendance@epcusd401.org.

When calling, please spell your child’s last name and give their student ID number.
