5TH GRADE CAREER DAY- CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

We will be having a Career Day for all 5th grade students in May and are looking for some speakers! Speakers will be asked to present a 30 minute talk about their career (will be given some guidelines) during three different sessions. The event will take place in May (exact date TBD) and will last from 7:30 AM -10:30 AM. If you are interested in speaker or serving as a helper at the event, please take a moment to complete the following form.


*Speakers will be chosen based upon need and application date.

CLASSROOM LESSONS QUARTER THREE

Each class will get 2 lessons during quarter 3. You can find the class counseling lesson schedule under the School Counseling tab of FIS website or by clicking HERE.


3rd Grade


Lesson 1

SA2- Develop positive attitudes toward others as unique and worthy people

SA4- Recognize each person is a part of a diverse local and global community


Lesson 2

CK3- articulate the importance of responsibility, dependability, punctuality, integrity, and effort in the workplace

CS4- Communicate effectively using oral, written, and listening communication skills

CE1- Participate in career and postsecondary institution exploration activities


4th Grade


Lesson 1

SS8- Persevere through challenges to achieve goals

SS7- Positively manage behavior and choices by applying self-discipline and self-control


Lesson 2

CS1- Develop skills to locate, evaluate and interpret career information

CA1- Develop and articulate postsecondary education and career aspirations

CK1- Research and appraise characteristics of a variety of traditional and nontraditional occupations

CA2- Articulate that career development occurs across the lifespan


5th Grade


Lesson 1

SK1- Develop and articulate personal values, attitudes, and beliefs

SE1- Participate in service project, service learning , and/or philanthropic activity (House Board)

SE2- Work effectively in a diverse group by developing and employing leadership and teamwork skills


Lesson 2

CK2- Articulate how personal abilities, skills, interests, and motivation influence values, choices and plans

CE4- Participate in a college and career assessment

CK4- Research and summarize the education and training needed to achieve specified career goals
