From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone has had a great start to the week. Our students were able to get into the Christmas spirit this week with a short performance from the Mercy McAuley Vocal Ensemble. The students loved singing along with these students and cheered loudly for our three SBJ alum (R. Fern, A. Lewis, and E. Ward) who were part of the performance. The bar has been set high for our next performance by our 4th and 5th grade students led by Mrs. Ossenschmidt. I can’t wait to hear their sweet voices next week!
This Advent Season, instead of using traditional prayers each morning before school, I have been sharing messages from a book of Advent meditations that allows students to reflect on their personal lives and relationship with Jesus. This week, we discussed how John the Baptist went out into the desert to help point people toward the light (Jesus). We have been using the theme “Let your Light Shine” all year, so it was great to be able to show our students how John the Baptist lived this theme during his life. All three of our priests have done an amazing job this year of bringing this theme into our All School Masses and the Homilies during weekend Masses. I would like to challenge each of you, as you navigate through this busy Christmas Season, to take some time to acknowledge Jesus as the light of the world and find some small ways to Let your Light Shine for others.
Hope to see everyone at the PTO Pop-up Shop tonight in the cafeteria from 6-8pm.
Thanks and have a great night!
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer
