Character Words of the Month: Citizenship and Patriotism
This month we have two character words: citizenship and patriotism. Citizenship means being a member of a state or country. Patriotism means having a devotion to one's country. These are often words we use in September (Labor Day) or November (Veteran's Day) but this year we are saving them for the end of the year. Here in America, we have great pride being citizens of what I consider the best country in the world. It fills me with such pride to hear "U-S-A" being chanted during the Olympics or sporting events. Tragic events like 9/11 or the events happening in our every day life often bring people together in the community. We often hear the phrase "Black Lives Matter," but as citizens of the best country in the world, I think it's important to embrace the phrase "All Lives Matter." Each one of us is important and we all matter. Let's take time this month to be appreciate of our great country!
