CELC News & Updates
Hello Creekside Families,
I hope that everyone had a great weekend. My family had another pretty quiet weekend. We spent some of our free time volunteering at the softball field.
It is hard to believe that we only have 4 days of school left! Our first kindergarten promotion was a success. We "launched" Mr. Velazquez' class into first grade on Friday and will be celebrating promotion for Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Hernandez on Monday and Mrs. Irick and Mrs. Montalbano on Tuesday.
Staff will be at the gate on Monday and Tuesday morning to check parents in for promotion. We will begin letting guests on campus about 15 minutes before the start time. All guests must wear a face mask. Guests will be asked to go directly to a table in the lunch area. Please distance yourself from other families and remain seated. When your child is called to receive their certificate, you may come forward to take a picture. We will have the students take their mask off so that you can see their beautiful smile.
Coins for Cubs was a huge success. We raised a little over $1,200 and will be able to purchase the Turtle Flyers. In addition, we will have about $600-$700 left to put in our technology budget. Thank you so much for all of the contributions. Every class will be having a popsicle party on Wednesday. It was SUPER close but Mrs. Wray's class raised the most money. With her help and input, we will be arranging an additional prize for her students. Congratulations room 14!
Our last FUNdraiser is on the last day of school! Kona Ice will be at CELC from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. All are invited to stop by and purchase a Kona Ice or ice cream. They take cash, credit, and Venmo!
2021-22 PTA needs you! Are you a TK or EAK parent? Please consider joining us next year. We are very hopeful that we will be almost back to "normal" and able to hold events. We need three board members to start the PTA. If you are interested, please contact Stephanie in the office and she will get your information.
CELC also needs School Site Council (SSC) members for next year. We meet a minimum of 5 times to talk about programs, site plans, and our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Members give input that is considered in decision making. This is a very important and mandated committee. Please also contact Stephanie in the office if you are interested.
Weekly Reminders and Updates:
- TK and K Report cards go home on the last day of school.
- Please check the lost and found. We will put it out in front of the school next week. Any items that are not claimed will be donated.
- Kindergarten registration is open for the 2021-22 school year. Please spread the word if you know any families with incoming Cubs.
- Please keep your student's Chromebook over the summer unless you are leaving the district. Students will have access to ST Math and Lexia. Help keep their skills fresh by practicing a few days a week! There will be an opportunity to purchase insurance for the 2021-22 school year.
- The last day of school is Thursday, June 10. We will have a release window for all classes from 12:15 pm to 12:35 pm. Don't forget to pick up a Kona Ice on the way out!
- PTA will be selling cute items at the promotion ceremonies. Be sure to bring a little cash. They also have Venmo.
- Please report all absences to the office. We are required to trace all absences. Illnesses may require an extended stay at home.
- AUSD continues to serve food during our 5-Day Schedule on Mondays from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at JMMS. If that time doesn't work for you, there is also a 5:00 pm pick up.
- Child Nutrition Services offers snack pick up for students at CELC during pick up times on Mondays. The grab and go snack bag will contain 5 days worth of snacks. This is available to all students 18 and under. THIS MONDAY IS OUR LAST SNACK DISTRIBUTION.
- The district continues to provide free wifi access at CELC, SHES, JMMS, and BOES. Just park in the lot and log in. The wifi name is AlpineUnited and no password is needed.
- The district has tech support available to parents. Please email helpdesk@alpineschools.net with your technology questions.
Wear college gear on Monday!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ripke
Kindergarten Promotion Information and Updates
Masks are required for all guests and students.
Please check in at the main gate. We will start letting guests on campus approximately 10-15 minutes before promotion time. Please line up and check in with your RSVP group.
As a reminder, we will be verifying the guest list.
If you would like to sign your student out after the ceremony, please pick up a Sign-Out Sheet when you check in.
Guests must go directly to the lunch area and find a table for their group.
10 of the tables will be reserved for the first 10 families that filled out the RSVP. This was determined by the date stamp on RSVP in Google Forms. These families/guests will be given a “ticket” to identify their designated spot. All unmarked tables are open for the remaining guests/families.
Please sit in your family “cohort”. Please stay seated.
We ask that you please do not save a table for another family/group.
When your child is called up to be recognized and receive a small gift, one person from your group may come forward to take a picture.
We will have the students remove their mask for the picture.
Items will be for sale at a PTA table. Bring cash (small bills please). PTA also has Venmo.
Restrooms will be closed to guests. If you have an emergency, please go to the office to see if we can accommodate you.
Students will return to the classroom after the ceremony. If you would like to take your student home early, please pick them up at the classroom door. The teacher will need to collect your Sign-Out Sheet.
Promotion Certificates will be sent home with your child the day of the ceremony.
All guests must leave immediately after the ceremony to allow time for the staff to clean and prepare for the next ceremony.
The Sheriff’s Department will be out front with information and goodies.
Picture areas will be set up out front. Please feel free to use these to take pictures of your student.
We are looking forward to “launching” our students into first grade!
COVID-19 Vaccines
CALFire will once again be at Joan MacQueen Middle on June 9 and 30. They will provide COVID testing and the Pfizer vaccine to those 12 years and older. Mark your calendars and please help spread the word!

Joyful June Calendar
"Exercise should be regarded as a tribute to the heart."

This month's theme is all about finding the joy in life, even when things are difficult. Research has shown that experiencing positive emotions in a 3-to-1 ratio with negative ones leads to a tipping point beyond which we naturally become more resilient to adversity. So let's train our brains to find the joy.Join CELC in spreading joy in June.
