Chromebook Program - Year 3
Technology Program
With the successful implementation of the One to One technology program, EICS is excited to enter into year 3 of the initiative.
- Existing lease participants will have the option to buy-out their existing Chromebook at a nominal fee. All the information on this is within Powerschool, including steps on how to pay online. This will be open until May 31, 2018.
- For new participants, the option to purchase (or lease to own) a Chromebook will be offered by Staples and not through the school board.
- Because of the positive feedback we’ve received from you about the service and support provided by Staples, we continue to recommend them to our parent community.
- Here is a link to their most recent offer, which now includes payment options.
- We will continue to maintain a small inventory of Chromebooks at the school in the event that the student forgets to bring or charge their own device.
- Any further questions, please contact your school administration.
Can you help in the library?
Champions de la Santé (Health Champions)
Help your child win points for their house! Any time they celebrate their birthday and bring in a healthy or non-food treat to share, they will receive 10 points for their house!
Keeping After School Pick-Up Safe and Efficient
Our drop off and pick up "Drive Thru" consistently receives rave reviews for its efficiency and safety. Please help us keep it that way. As spring has sprung, finally!, we remind students to keep their eyes open for their parents when they pull up and we are asking for your help. Should your child not be ready when you pull up, you will be asked to loop around or park and come and get your child. Thank you for having conversations with your child about their responsibilities to keep this procedure safe by not playing tag (running around), and by watching when new vehicles pull up so they can head to their cars. As an incentive, when children do this well, they will receive jetons for their houses! Thank you for your help to keep this procedure safe and efficient.
Come and Play! PreKindergarten and Kindergarten Evening and Play!
Spread the news and bring the kids! We are excited to host a Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Information Evening filled with fun activities for children and parents to play together. This evening is designed for families newly registered at ÉPK or families who are thinking about giving their child the advantage and benefits of a Catholic French Immersion education.
Our open house will be held May 15 at École Père Kenneth Kearns Catholic School (8 Sandpiper Drive) from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Our amazing and welcoming French Immersion staff will be on hand to answer all of your questions and inspire much enthusiasm for your child's excellent education.
As a close-knit community, we know many children, parents and community members are dealing with trauma, directly or indirectly related to the recent Humboldt Broncos tragedy. It is during these times that connections and support become increasingly important. While everyone reacts to and deals with traumatic events differently, please know Strathcona County’s professional support services are available for anyone who needs to talk.
No appointment is needed, and this is a “pay what you can afford” service (starting at $0). Services are available at various times, Monday through Friday. Visit www.strathcona.ca/counselling or call 780-464-4044 for more information. Attached is a poster sharing these services, for your use.
Please consider sharing this information with your network as a reminder of the community resources available to residents during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Family and Community Services
