Boals Anchor

Where our future is anchored in learning!

School News

Dear Boals’ Families,

We have had such a fun and exciting week here at Boals. Our Boosterthon Fun Run was Wednesday and we enjoyed having so many parents, grandparents, and other family and friends join us to cheer on our runners. We truly appreciate your support in helping our campus reach our goals! We want to send a BIG THANK YOU, to all of our countless volunteers that helped make the day spectacular for our students.

We appreciate everyone coming out to Curriculum Night this past Tuesday. Please continue to access the student learning hub at or your classroom teacher's website for academic information throughout the year.

As you are reading with your child at home, here are a few reading tips for parents: What’s “Just Right”? Children feel confident and competent when they read books that are “just right.” But how do you find a “just right” book? Have your child read the back and front cover, and the first page of the book. If there are more than five words that he cannot pronounce or understand in context, the book may be too challenging. Be supportive about finding a more perfect fit. Choosing the right book will help your little reader feel successful.

· Please remember that all walkers and bike riders should use the designated cross walks to cross our city streets and Boals carpool lanes.

· Please make sure that all students and parents have cleared the cross walk before going through an intersection.

· Cell phones are restricted in school zones. Please make sure to stay alert for all of our walkers and bike riders.

Thank you again for continued support and help this year!

Proud Principal,

Christina Beran

Carpool Safety Reminders

Thank you parents for helping us ensure the safety of your child for arrival and dismissal. We appreciate everyone waiting patiently and courteously during the process.

Here are just a few safety reminders:

• Vehicles may not be left unattended in the carpool lanes, bus lane or by the dumpsters.

• Please do not get out of your vehicle in traffic lanes to converse with other parents or staff members during our peak traffic times.

• Students may not cross lanes of traffic. All students must be loaded off of a curb or walked to the car by a teacher.

• If you are picking up a child in a carpool lane, please form two lines. Also, when possible, please move up with the flow of traffic. For safety reasons, we do not want cars entering the carpool lane and pulling in front of other cars.

• If for any reason you need to enter the building, please park in the parking lot on the westside of the building. We also ask that you go through the office and pick-up a visitor’s sticker.

• If you are picking up both older and younger children in the carpool lane, the older child will pick up the younger child and take them to be dismissed with the older child’s class.

• Important: Please do not block cars from moving up in the carpool lane. Safety is our

number one priority and we need everyone’s help in providing a safe environment for our students.

Counselor's News

“CogAT TESTING – During the Mornings of Monday, October 3rd, Tuesday, October 4th, and Wednesday, October 5th, all fifth graders in FISD will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). Please schedule morning appointments on days other than CogAT testing. The CogAT gives teachers and parents a snapshot of students’ higher level thinking, reasoning, and problem solving abilities (verbal, nonverbal, quantitative, and overall ability), as compared with fifth graders in the nation. Please be sure your awesome fifth grader has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast on these days. Please encourage your child with a hug, a reminder to listen carefully the first time, and to do their “Personal Best” on the test. It’s an opportunity to ‘Show What You Know!’ For more information, please visit”
