Career Share
We are looking for caring adults in our Bears' lives to share about your job or career. This year you will have the option to share a 5-10 minute video or a 10-15 minute live zoom with our students about your job. Videos will need to be submitted by May 17. Live Zooms with your child's class will be held May 17-27. You are welcome to present in whichever way works best for you. You will receive a few talking points to help guide your presentation.
If you are interested in sharing a 5-10 minute video or a 10-15 minute zoom with our students about your job, please complete the following form:
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this possible. We think our Bears are going to really enjoy our Career Share Week with a COVID twist.

Mitigation Measures
We are so thankful to have in-person learning. This can continue only as long as we remain vigilant in our mitigation efforts. Thank you for reinforcing these ways to slow the spread:
- Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others.
- Stay 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.
- Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.
Thank you!

GEYCP Summer Programming
Each summer many USD 231 students take advantage of the opportunity to enrich their lives through Summer Programming, and this summer is no different. Once again, fun and engaging classes will be offered during the summer months for student enjoyment.
The Summer Enrichment Program is designed to support student learning during the month of June with engaging, high-interest activities that promote student creativity, problem-solving and reinforcement of core learning skills. The Summer Enrichment Program is open to all current Gardner Edgerton students who will be entering first through 12th grade.
Gardner Edgerton High School coaches will be putting on camps throughout the summer to instruct the fundamentals and skills of sports. You can find athletic camps for your K-12 grader (SY 21-22) in an easy, online registration process.
The Advanced Technical and Culinary Arts Center will be offering adult programming! Adults in the community will be able to learn the basics of welding, culinary tips, auto maintenance, automotive airbrush, and more!

Update from the Health Room
As we enter into Winter, it is a great time to remind our school community of the measures we take to keep students healthy and prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
We reinforce frequent hand washing with our students and coughing/sneezing into a tissue or their sleeve (not their hands).
In addition, we refer to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) recommendations when determining the need to send a student home from school. The JCDHE recommendation chart provides specific guidance on when a student can be readmitted to school.
For example, students are to be fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
Occasionally we receive questions about head lice management in our schools, and we have an extensive set of resources on our website that can be found HERE.
As needed, we will inform parents when we see an increase in illnesses in our school population with the potential for rapid spread among students and staff (such as influenza) or in the rare instance we have a mandatory reportable disease occur in our population, like Mumps. General head lice notifications are not recommended as they have been found to cause harm and lead to unnecessary treatment. Instead, the school nurse will assess the need for notification on an individual basis to those considered close contacts.
Thank you for reinforcing healthy habits with our students. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our school nurse at (913) 856-0450.
