I am passionate about nutrition and at the moment it is an overwhelming issue that may pose a threat to every individual in society.
Why is this an important issue?
It is important because it's becoming an increasing problem and it effects of millions of people worldwide.
What is the facts, statistics and data for your issue?
Fourteen million Australians are overweight or obese. If trends continue, by 2025 the child and adult population, 80% will be overweight or obese. Obesity is the single biggest threat to public health in Australia.
Why is this issue a concern in Australia?
It is a concern in Australia because we are one of the most obese nations in the world, and millions of Australians are overweight. It is concerning because if trends are only continuing and getting worse, the problem isn't getting smaller with education.
What is the background/history of the issue?
In the last 2 decades people have doubled. And in 2005, half of the Australian adult population was obese. With the introduction of better technological innovations, tv and tablets and computers, people have been not getting enough exercise and feeding their bodies with nutritionally dense food.
