Online Registration Available for 2019-20 School Year
In an effort to decrease the amount of time parents have to spend completing paperwork and visiting schools, Florence 1 Schools has designed a streamlined, parent-friendly process for online registration for the 2019-20 school year.
When registering students for the upcoming school year, parents will have the flexibility to register students at a time that is convenient for them.
An app will be made available to parents, and they will be able to use a mobile phone, tablet, or home computer to complete the registration process. If parents do not have access to technology, a school kiosk or a computer lab will be set up at the school for parents to be able to complete the process there. Also, during this first year of implementation paper and pencil forms for registration will still be available.
“We are excited that parents in Florence 1 Schools will be able to register students whenever and wherever is convenient for them during the registration window,” said Kyle Jones, Director of Technology. “By allowing parents to use multiple platforms, it will hopefully be a more pleasurable and less time-consuming registration experience.”
Hayley Cagle, Director of Testing and School Improvement said, “Aside from being an environmentally friendly process, digital registration improves the flow of information and cuts down on the possibility of data entry error.”
School officials have also noted that new and returning students will be able to complete online registration and required documents can be uploaded easily.
Superintendent Dr. Richard O’Malley said that bringing the registration process into the 21st century was a necessary step for the district to take.
“Our students are using digital tools every day in their classrooms,” O’Malley said. “It was time that the school district began using these resources as well.”
Note: In the next few weeks, Florence 1 Schools will share important information regarding online registration. All parents are encouraged to review this information carefully in order to help make the online registration process for the 2019-2020 school year a positive one.
