Panther Update

Week of 12/14

In the Classroom

Last week I was able to observer students in Mass Media working on an inanimate project video. How difficult is that?? Making an inanimate object have feelings and thoughts. Excellent "outside the box" thinking.

Many of our Tenth Graders are beginning Lord of the Flies. Discuss with your student this text and the importance of symbolism in writing. Research the post-World War II climate of the text as it gives more insight to the novel.

Over break take the time to have an authentic learning experience; take a nature walk, go to a museum, read the latest novel you have been putting off. Learning is an experience which takes place each day; both within and outside the classroom walls.

Quick updates from Athletics:

-Boys Basketball ended the week on a 3 game winning streak.

-Girls Basketball finished their tournament with a victory over Moorpark HS. Kayla Overbeck set the school record for rebounds TWICE this week. A new record of 32.

-Girls Soccer has a perfect 2-0 week.

-Boys Soccer continues action in the Burroughs Tournament

-Girls Water Polo faces Pacifica and Rio Mesa this week.

Come on out and support all our Athletic Teams!

Last week saw a great four nights of our Winter Dance Concerts. It was quite enjoyable to see all different levels of dance participate in our Concert. We all raised close to $900 for various Ventura County Charities.

Come out this week and support our Choir at their Winter Concert. Tickets are on sale for $10.

Finally this week is Spirit Week. Tomorrow is Twins Day. Find your long-lost Twin. Wednesday is Ugly Sweater, Thursday is Space/Star Wars day and Friday is a White Out Rally. Show your #PantherPride
