Alcatraz
The Haunting
Is Alcatraz truley huanted?
There is evidence of paranormal activities. Guards have said there are strange things about Alcatraz. "Prisoners, rangers, and visitors have reported a wide range of alleged ghostly activity on Alcatraz, from whispering in cells and locked cell doors shutting, to phantom figures in corridors, cold spots and even sounds of musical instrument and sewing machines." Still there is no evidence about the paranormal in Alcatraz that can disprove this theory.
History
Alcatraz was founded by Jaun Manuel de Ayala in 1775. At first it was a military fortress, then a prison. The prison's maximum capticity of prisoners was 366 people. There were many deaths of prisoners and a few guards. Prisoners killed by unnatural causes were from either being sentenced to death, committing suicide, death by inmate, or trying to escape. Only 3 guards were killed while Alcatraz was a prison. "36 men (including two who tried to escape twice) were involved in 14 separate escape attempts. Of these, 23 were caught, 6 were shot and killed during their escape, and 2 drowned." ("The Rock"). Prisoners who were sentenced to death could die by hanging, electrocution, lethal injection, or the gas chamber.
