Welcome Back!!!

We are so excited to be back working with your students. The break was nice, but seeing the smiling faces of our students is nicer! Teachers returned this week to lots of hugs and students ready for learning. As a staff, we took time on Wednesday afternoon to re-establish our goals and commitments to our teams and our students. We hope that you, too, have set goals for your families and wish great things to come throughout the year.

Counselor's Corner

We are kicking off the New Year with a WOOP in our guidance lessons. WOOP is a scientific strategy that people can use to find and fulfill their wishes and change habits.. http://www.woopmylife.org/

Wish- What is an important wish that you want to accomplish in the next few weeks? (your wish should be challenging but possible)

Outcome- What would be the best outcome if your with came true? How will you feel?

Obstacle-What is the main obstacle inside you that might prevent you from accomplishing your wish? (be careful not to blame others here)

Plan-If/Then plan. If ______________(obstacle) then I will ________________ (effective action)

I have already been very proud of the students I have met with to do a WOOP. They have really made meaningful and thoughtful goals.

Notes from FISD

We wanted to inform you that Frisco ISD will not be allowing Hoverboards on Frisco ISD property. Documented fires have occurred in the use of these devices while charging, as well as during use. Other organizations have also banned their use/presence due to fire risk, including many airlines. If students bring a Hoverboard to campus, the parent will be contacted to pick up the device, as it cannot remain on campus due to the possible risk. This includes all makes and models of Hoverboards. As always, the safety of students and staff is our top priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Outdoor Learning Area Update

The district has removed all of the trees and will be looking to install appropriate drainage and rocks in our Outdoor Learning Area over the summer. We will be installing additional picnic tables and container gardens all made possible from our fundraising this fall (Smith Stampede). We were hoping for a springtime opening but will have to wait until the summer or fall. All of the legacy bricks in the Outdoor Learning Area will remain. We can't wait for the project to be completed!
