St. Stanislaus STAR
January 6, 2016
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Welcome to 2016! Students and staff returned to school this week ready to learn and to be Christ to one another. As we begin our second semester, we are taking just a few minutes of our time to review the rules and procedures that are expected during the school day to keep our school running orderly. I greatly appreciated the time and effort that the staff is putting into this and the students’ response to this review.
Report cards are being sent home today. Please note that all students are receiving a music grade. This grade is based on the information found in the gradebook and reviewed by the principal. There has been a substitute teacher in the music classroom since Nov. 9 and no assessments have been taken since that time.
During January we begin to review more closely the progress and growth of each child. Information and data gives us a better understanding of the child’s ability to learn and to use newly acquired skills. Though we do not have scheduled third quarter conferences, teachers may request a conference to review your child’s progress. Parents are also encouraged to call a conference if there is concern.
During the month of January, we will not be focused on any particular Corporal Work of Mercy. That will resume in February as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 31 – Feb. 6. Details of Catholic Schools Week will be found in next week’s STAR, the church bulletin, and on our school’s website: www.ststan.net. We look forward to celebrating Catholic Schools with you.
It is a great day in the kingdom of God here at St. Stanislaus School!

Notes & Reminders
- Catholic Schools Week Jan. 31 – Feb. 6
Using the School Facilities
This note is a reminder of the process for using the school facilities such as the gym and cafeteria. Use of these facilities needs permission from the pastor by calling the Parish Office at 636-4925. The principal, the Athletic Director, and classroom teachers do not have the authority to grant permission for anyone to use the facilities without first getting permission from the pastor. All practices for school sports must be approved and put on the parish calendar. Permission is required for liability purposes. Thank you for following these guidelines.
School families, please join us for our next Home & School meeting on Wednesday, January 13 at 6:15! Pizza and childcare provided! Wonderful guest speaker, Denise Barnes, will be sharing her message on "Growing Catholic Children." This takes patience, love, and a lot of courage in today's world. Learn some easy and practical ways to help your children grow in faith during this year of mercy.
The St. Stanislaus/St. Margaret Knights of Columbus (Seeking Christ for our Nation) and all youth of the parish K-12th grade is teaming up to pray/sing for our nation on Thursday, January 14 at 7 p.m. in Church. There will be a reserved area in Church for all youth and immediately following the homily, the youth will lead in a meditation song “Let There Be Peace On Earth”. For those participating, we will practice in Church on Wednesday, January 6 at 6:45 pm. If you cannot make the practice but will be attending the Mass, please contact LeAnn in the parish office at 636-4925.
