Teacher Reminders
- Please complete MIRL Testing this month.
- EMAT #3 scores must be entered by April 6th.
- April is National Math Month - see below for activities happening this month.
- Don't forget to celebrate Earth Day with your class!
- If you plan to be out with a sub, remember to print out your attendance sheets for the sub. See Patti or Elizabeth if you need help!
- Remember to notify the health room at least the day or week prior to a field trip so Ms. Kaplan can get meds ready for your trip!

- PTA Membership on the part of the staff sends a strong message of support to the school community. Please consider joining.
If you have parent volunteers, please remind them to sign in and out. This is needed every time, as we report our volunteer hours on a monthly basis to the county.
Remember to enter all technology needs via the UniCenter – directions are located on Bethesda Private.
Remember that Copy Plus should be used as often as possible. Sending documents electronically is also recommended (current turnaround time is 9 days). http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/copyplus/
Please list all indoor recess activities in your room and/or have the students aware of the materials that they can use. Establish guidelines for computer use during indoor recess.

April is National Math Month
April is National Math Month. We are excited to be continuing our annual activities that are so welcomed by our students. We hope that you will find these activities easy to incorporate into your day.
Math Poster Celebration:
The first week of April - week after spring break, find time for students to work in groups to create Math Posters. Once these are finished, use blue tape to display these in your grade level hallway. Posters should all have a math theme, encourage students to be creative!
Monday Math Masters
Mr. Z will provide a biography to be read on the morning announcements. These biographies will be put together by the 5/6 math students. This will begin the second week of Math Month.
Tuesday: Productive Struggle
· We will be having three opportunities for students to engage with challenging tasks – the 1st will be on Tues., April 10 and the second on Tues., April 17, and the third will be on Tues., April 24.
· As a team – select 3 tasks/questions your grade level will be working with during this month
Wednesday: Math Literature Read-Aloud/Book Talks
· Please select a book to read aloud during your math class period.
· Mrs. Kohlbrenner can help you with a book if you need one. Mr. Z also has some books. If you are looking for a particular topic, let them know.
Thursdays: Math Games or Mystery Number
· Teams can complete a fun math activity with their students
· Could be a guess the mystery number given clues from the teacher
· Could play games or do buddy math with their literacy buddy classes
Fridays: Guessing Jar
· We will have two guessing jars this year – one for the week ending April 13th, and one for the week ending April 27th.
· The Guessing Jars will be displayed at the front of the school in the window of the lobby.
· Entry forms will be placed in your mailboxes each week.
· Please cut them apart (there are 3 per page) and give each child IN YOUR HOMEROOM one after you have viewed your grade's guessing jar.
· All entries should be sent to Ms. McGuire NO LATER THAN 12:00 on each Friday - NO EXCEPTIONS.
· DO NOT FOLD IN HALF!!!
· The winners will be announced on Friday afternoon and will receive the contents of their grade level’s jar (One K - 2 jar and one 3 -5 jar).
