It's a great day to be a Leopard!

Amira Khan wins county spelling bee!

The 2019 Cooke County Spelling Bee took place on Monday, February 11.. The Bee went 25 rounds, with the top two battling it out for the last 9 rounds. Amira Khan, Lee Intermediate 6th grade student, placed first. Emma Waltersheid, Muenster ISD 6th grade student, was the runner-up.

Also participating in the Cooke County Bee were the campus winners from the other particpating schools: Jazlyn Austin-Thomas (4th grade) of Chalmers Elementary, Uriel Tellez (7th grade) of Gainesville Junior High, and Sven Aackerlund (6th grade) of Sacred Heart.

Khan will represent Cooke County at the 61st annual Golden Chick Dallas Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas. It will be broadcast on Saturday, March 16, from 12pm-1pm on WFAA Channel 8.

Boys and Girls Powerlifting Earn Gold!

On Thursday, both the Lady Leopard and Leopard Powerlifting teams went to Little Elm and both brought home the Team Gold. Taylor Royal was awarded best overall girls lifter and William Goines was awarded best overall all boys lifter. In addition, every GHS lifter earned a Personal Record in one of the lifts.

Paving the career path for future teachers

On Thursday, the Principles of Education class took a field trip over to Edison Elementary as part of their current studies of children's literature. These students are working toward a career path in education and training and are also a part of Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE). We are excited to see these young adults venture into the world of teaching!
