#ReadersAreLeaders (The 5) WIN!
WIN time Works!
How you can support WIN time at home:
We are proud to offer WIN time daily to our scholars to grow a culture of readers!
1. Encourage reading at home!
2. Help your child find a great book
3. Go to the library
4. Get on your iBooks and download samples of some classics! I just downloaded James and the Giant Peach by Ronald Dahl!
5. Do a read aloud together!
Please support your child in the #OctoberSelfieReading Challenge! Prizes for all who participate! #ReadersAreLeaders
Check in with your child! How are they doing on the Reading Challenge? Prizes for ALL!
Notes from Ms. Raeburn (The 10)
Red Ribbon Week is right around the corner! Out Student Council has elite days planned that include dress up days and door decorating contests! This year the theme is:
•Life is a Jorurney• Travel drug free!
Also, Wednesday is Unity Day. We are using this day to take a stand against bullying and to wear ORANGE to highlight our unity. Together we can make a difference and help promote kindness and positive relationship choices for all our scholars.
Bryan County Schools is taking part in an AdvancED review this school year. The AdvancED process helps our district with accrediation and also gives us valueable data and information that we can use to reflect and plan as we grow to be the very best school district we can be! This week, I am launching the parent survey for our families to take. This is a very brief survey and it is anomoyous. If you could take the time to complete it, our school would appreicate it!
Look for our next Parent University to be held in December!
In January we are going to kick off a new event at BCMS: Our Saturday Spectacular!
We will be offering Math Enrichment and Literacy Enrichment for scholars on Saturday from 9-12 as well as a Parent University from 9-10 to go dissect the Extended Writing piece on GMAS. We are looking forward to offering Saturday opportunities to grow our scholars and to support our families! Stay tuned for more details!
The peeks of the week are listed under our "weekly updates" tab on our website. We hope you are finding this information helpful in keeping up with the day to day of your child and what they are doing at school.
Other #BeBCMS Nuggets:
E+R=O
I hope you have noticed the posters and visual reminders around our school. E+R=O is a simple skill. The E stands for the event (what happened), the R stands for how your responded (your action) and the O stands for the Outcome (what did you get). We are helping our scholars to think about E+R=O in every situation. Our goal is to help our scholars begin to see and understand that the better their R is, the better their O will be!
