As a reminder we are transitioning to a new grading and reporting system in our R7 elementary schools. We will include various facts in each of our weekly newsletters to help keep you informed during the early stages of this implementation. Don’t forget that you can also learn more about Standards Based Grading and Reporting by visiting our school web page and choosing Progress Reports. We are completing our final stage of training of the next couple weeks. Once that is completed, you can expect to see signs of the new grading system as papers and assignments come home.
Note from Mrs. Taylor!
Hi Families,
It's amazing how quickly our students and staff get back in routine! What a WONDERFUL start to the school year! :) The first month, teachers are reviewing building-wide and classroom expectations. It is proven that students want to do what is right, we just need to make sure that the expectations are clear and consistent -- if so, they will RISE to the occasion! Our SVE Teachers are amazing with our kiddos, as they recognize what students are "needing" from them when acting out:
BIST TIP:
Three reasons kids get in trouble and what they need from adults:
- They don’t know any better. They need: Information about home and school rules to understand why that behavior is unexpected.
- They test limits. They need: Consistency in adult expectations, calm reactions and reliable consequences.
- They can’t manage their feelings. They need: Practice in identifying and expressing their feelings in a respectful way.
