Titan Times
Eastlake High School 8.5.19
Titan Family
I have been asked several times, What's it like being the principal of Eastlake High School? I am still trying to figure out the perfect analogy. I will reveal it by the end of the year. As busy as we get, I always reflect on how awesome we are as a staff. We are providing amazing opportunities for our community. I am always humbled by your awesomeness. We have the first two weeks behind us. Classes are balanced and we are in the process of finishing our staffing needs. I hope you get into the Titan spirit this week for the Lu-Wow! Let's show the student body what it means to be a Titan. Key reminders for the week:
A. Training. Please let us know if you have not received the Blood Borne Pathogen and/or Sexual Harassment training. Also, the Mandated Reporter Online training is due by August 23rd. We will conduct the Appropriate Boundaries Training at our August Faculty Meeting. Time is supposed to be afforded via Pro Hours to complete the online training. Please work with your departments to accommodate the time needed.
B. FAC Reminder. Our first FAC meeting is this Wednesday. Please let your representative know of your concerns.
C. Observation Schedule. We are committed to getting out to classes. Here is the schedule of our observations. Please hold us accountable. We have agreed to ask students What they are learning, How they will show they have learned and Why it's important.
D. Expectations Talk. The videos will be shared this week. Enjoy the theatrical debut of Dr. Cooke and special guests. A special thanks to Rick Meads for putting this together. We hope it's an engaging way to discuss expectations. I would like to visit all senior social classes this week for about three minutes to introduce myself.
E. Titan Way Pins Update. I love how many students have been recognized. I am doing my best to catch up. So many kids want to keep the pins. I think we will do the following. I am going order 2,000 more. I am going to give each staff member 10 pins to recognize a student. The student keeps the pin and the you will fill out a google form so that I know who I recognizing that week with a call. I will still give them an ASB buck. It's been awesome meeting these students and seeing how proud they are to be recognizes. See some pictures below!
F. Attendance. We are instituting a new tardy procedure the following week. At 7:45, we will close the front gates and all students to the side gate where attendance is located. Please see the forthcoming attachment from Amanda Stroberg. Parents have been notified.
Have a great week Titans. Can't wait to see you all in action. Go Titans!
Keep Shining,
Ricardo Cooke, Ed.D.
Our Condolences
