The Sparrow Program at DCD K-8
Yesterday we finally got to meet our sweet Sparrow, Amara! We feel so lucky to be able to help Amara and her family by doing community service hours! Students are excited to get started. Every hour of community service "unlocks" $10 from our sponsor, Windermere. The money will go to Amara's family to help offset the cost of her cancer treatments.
Beginning in the month of February, during our annual Kindness Challenge, students will be able to begin logging their acts of community. Now is a great time to brainstorm about community service ideas to help Amara and our community. The requirements are that the acts of kindness be shared with members outside of their family. Classes will share more information about how to record the acts of service soon.

3rd Annual Hartsock Kindness Challenge Begins in February
The 3rd annual Hartsock Kindness Challenge will be happening during the month of February. This challenge is in honor of a former staff member, Andrea Hartsock. Andrea always exemplified kindness and caring for everyone she met. During the challenge students are encouraged to complete acts of kindness at school and at home. Some classrooms are choosing a classroom kindness project to work on together.
This year we will have three kindness -themed spirit days and students can earn kindness tickets for their good deeds. The tickets will be entered in random drawings for small prizes.
