Crosby Senior Academy
Crosby Scholar seniors are required to attend two Crosby Senior Academies (CSA) offered throughout the school year. A different topic is discussed at each CSA. Online registration is required through the Crosby Scholars Student Portal. Academies began in April and will be held through December 2019. The final schedule is posted on the Crosby Scholars Senior Academy Page.

What is RDS?!
The Residency Determination Service (RDS) was established in coordination with the University of North Carolina, the North Carolina Community College System, the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, and the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities as the centralized service for determining residency for students.
This service enables a student to use one residency determination number for admissions applications to multiple North Carolina public colleges and universities and to demonstrate residency for state aid programs consideration at all (public and private) North Carolina colleges and universities.

Well Minded - Tips for a Balanced and Healthy Year
1. Motivation Monday -- it can be hard to start the week on a positive note, everybody has some "Manic Mondays," listen to this podcast to help you change your perception of the week and stay motivated.
2. The Digital Mindfulness Podcast -- there's no denying it, you're on your cell phone as much as possible these days. Try out this podcast to help you from getting digitally overwhelmed and learn how to improve your interaction with technology.
3. Youth Aloud - this is a podcast for students, by students. Each episode focuses on a different topic and real students share their stories. Listen to the 12-minute episode on student stress below. Can you relate to one of the student stories?

Application Deadlines Defined
Resume Writing for High School Students
Creating a resume can seem daunting to high school students, particularly because "resume" carries the connotation of something needed to apply for a job, and most Crosby Scholars seniors are thinking about applying to college. However, college applications expect you to provide information typically found on a resume, and the tips below are useful in getting started.
- Although you might have little paid work experience, volunteer service can substitute as a reflection of responsibility, commitment, time management, and individual effort. Don't overlook the importance of your role in a big project or as a volunteer over time with a specific agency.
- Make sure that you have created a professional email address prior to listing your contact information on a resume.
- Highlight extracurricular activities in which you were a faithful participant, and share something significant about your role using action verbs.
- List awards and achievements received in high school.
- Include a skills section that emphasizes practical abilities such as web design or photography, along with "soft skills" such as written communication or problem-solving. Think carefully about the qualities that describe you.

Parent Portal Possibilities
Parents can monitor their senior’s Crosby Scholars Student Portal, view announcements and events, and confirm if their senior has fulfilled each program requirement by logging into their parent portal. If you need assistance accessing your Crosby Scholars Parent Portal, call our office at 725.5371.
Only students who complete the Crosby Scholars Senior Program are eligible to apply for Last Dollar Grants and Crosby scholarships.
