Welcome Back!
I encourage all members of our school community to view the video orientation of RO, linked below, posted on our website and sent in a previous email earlier this summer.
Richardson Olmsted School is a highly inclusive learning environment. As a team, we will work very hard to ensure that every student feels a strong sense of belonging within our school community. We believe that when students feel valued and believe they belong then they are truly ready to learn. Over these first few weeks of school, building a sense of belonging is a priority for our team. We look forward to getting to know our students well, building relationships and INSPIRING our students to want to learn more.
Here's to the magic of new beginnings! We can't wait to get started!
Sincerely,
Chris Getchell
pROud principal
First Day of School: Reminders
Here's a list of items for your student's backpack:
- Summer Reading and Math Folder. All of our students were given a folder in June with a choice board for reading and math. Students were asked to complete five reading and five math choices. Evidence of that work should be included in the folder and brought back to school on the first day.
- Fully charged Chromebook. Please note: If your child does not have one, the IT Department will provide that on the first day.
- Face Masks - face masks are required for all staff and students. Extra masks in backpacks are a really good idea. We recommend putting extra face masks in a Ziploc bag in your student's backpack.
- Grade Level Supplies - Please see the following links for a list per grade:
Grade 3 Supply List
Grade 4 Supply List
Grade 5 Supply List
***Note, we will have extra supplies and backpacks available for any student who comes to school without school supplies.
- snack and water bottle with your student's name on it.
- Lunch, if your child is not getting a lunch from school. All school lunches are free for all again this year.
RO Video Orientation
Once you click on the link, you will see various areas of interest. These headings include: Our core beliefs as a school, arrival and dismissal procedures, safety, teaching and learning, communication, school supplies, summer learning, homework, etc. When you click on a heading of interest, you will be presented with a brief video providing information on that topic. These videos are anywhere from 3 - 10 minutes long (with the exception of the 'Teaching and Learning' video which is almost 20 minutes).
We do not expect you to watch ALL of these videos in one sitting. The intent of this orientation is to provide families with a convenient reference point throughout the year as questions arise. This link is also posted on our website homepage for your convenience.
