The Riebli Record
September 25, 2020
Let's have #rieblirocks take over our neighborhood, local hiking trail, treadmill, or living room. You can run, jump, scoot, hike, bike or dance your way to a 5k.
Attach your official running bib to your shirt, take a picture and send it into the PTA (rieblipta@gmail.com) to get counted for participation. The grade level with the most participation wins a prize!
Thank you KINsmoke and PTA for sponsoring this event!
So, yes, distance learning is hard. I am so tired when Friday finally rolls around. All I want to do on the weekend is hang out with my family and relax. I want the 6 loads of laundry, the dirty bathroom and kitchen to go away. Where is my magical fairy??? Then, the smoke, and all of the other things are just icing on the cake.
If 2020 has taught us something, it’s that the cake probably has another layer to it or some kind of gooey filling that will gush out all over everything when you slice it.
We’ve come a long way since August 17!!! Can we take a minute right now and be thankful for Team Riebli? They have been there for us so, so much!
They are so organized in their approach. Team Riebli also has been excellent about ongoing communication. All the teachers unwavering commitment to their students. It’s taken some time, hard work, and a lot of conversations, but I have no worries (at least about school). Our counseling staff has been amazing reaching out to families and hosting parent zoom nights. Our Classified staff has been the key to making your learning item pick up successful. They have been so organized and working so hard to make sure this goes well.
I’ve had to let go of some things. I know my kitchen is never going to be clean. My email is never going to be a zero. But, my joy watching you kids learn keeps me going.
Check out this article “Three Ways to Help Your Kids Succeed at Distance Learning”. This is a must-read. For me, this article included a game-changer phrase: “What’s your plan?”. These three words, take so much off the parent and move the responiblity back to your student. “What’s your plan to be on time to the zoom?”. With these words and the teacher/staff communication, I think we might be on to something. Here’s to choosing your battles and dirty kitchens!
This week, have your student draw a picutre or write a "Thank you note" to their teacher.
XOXO,
Emily

Also, we are on campus, they provide a weekly lunch bunch where the students meet with adults from the community and discuss the meaning of CREW (Courage, Resiliant, Empowerment and Well Being). We want to bring this program to all Mark West Schools and ensure it continues when we return. Purchasing a ticket is the best way to make sure this program stays afloat.

Library Message
What fun to see so many children taking advantage of our school library! K-3 had their first delivery in their school pickup bags this week. The 4-6 grades will have them in their bags next week.
I've written on the bags that books are due in 2 week. Please keep track of the zip lock bag in which your book was placed, and use it to return your book (There was one book that was too big for the ziplock bag. Sorry.)
If your child finishes their book before the 2 weeks, you can return it to the Drop Box that is next to the Riebli office door. Doing this before the 2 weeks will allow me to checkout your child's next selection and have it ready for the next scheduled pickup day. One book per child is allowed on their account, and I must have the first book before I can checkout the next.
If the book your child requests is already checked out, I will send an email to the address provided, letting you know of this. I will ask if there is another choice, while your child waits for their first choice to be returned.
Examples for Call Number: FIC CHA, ER MCC, 597.95, JFIC AUX. This is what I need in order to find the book's location in the Library. Please be sure to fill that box for me.
As always, please keep your school library book in a safe, dry place. I truly appreciate your efforts on this.
Happy reading,
Ms. Denise
