Message from the Principal
I am so happy to have another opportunity to serve as your school principal. I have met a lot of you online and it has been a complete joy seeing everyone. Even though the school year is different this year, our teachers and staff continue to care for our students. The IHCS team is investing endless hours to ensure students are prepared for the next level. It will be an exciting year of academics , virtual meetings, and some distance learning fun. Thanks again for the support.
Welcome to the Team!
We are happy to welcome our new 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Stephanie Nevins, and our new 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Kathleen Neff, to the IHCS team! Below is a brief introduction from each of them.
Stephanie Nevins, 5th Grade
I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher!I have always had a passion for education and working with children. So, after high school I began on my path to accomplish this goal. In June of 2011 I graduated from Cal State San Bernardino with a multiple subject teaching credential and bachelors degree in liberal studies. Upon graduation, I worked for Alta Loma School District and later Cucamonga School District, where I most recently taught 4th grade for the past 6 years. However, 2 years ago my family and I relocated to Riverside County when we moved to Lake Elsinore. This is what led me here to Perris Elementary School District today! I am so grateful for this new opportunity to work in the community in which I reside and am raising my own family. I have experience in many different grade levels, but I am very excited to begin this new journey with you all in 5th grade!
I have been teaching for 8 years. I have taught Kindergarten, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and 6th grade. My favorite grade is 6th, and this is my 4th straight year teaching 6th grade. I have 3 kids, and we love to travel during the summer. I enjoy bringing rich cultural experiences into my classroom, as I believe we can all learn a lot from different cultures from around the world.
Attendance Awareness
Students are more likely to attend school if they feel safe (emotionally + physically), connected, supported, and are encouraged to believe they can learn and achieve.
- School staff, especially teachers, play a primary role in creating an engaging, supportive school climate that motivates students to attend, fosters a belief that students can achieve, and encourages families to become and stay involved.
- Educators and community partners can ensure that all students are welcome and feel they belong in school. Given positive, supportive conditions, students will become engaged in learning.
The Sound of Music!
As of this past Friday, most of the middle school band students have their instruments. Our performances this year will look a little different than normal, but with some much needed time with their music and instruments, we’ll have our first virtual performance recorded soon!
Thanks and Celebrations
