Queen Elizabeth I
Protestant or Catholic?
The majority of England practiced Catholicism, but Queen Elizabeth wanted to convert her citizens to Anglicanism. She incorporated the Protestant doctrine into the church of England. Elizabeth worked on the Anglican Compromise to help make the transition to Protestantism. She issued the thirty nine articles, which is a defining statement of the Anglican doctrine.
