Congratulations to EmmaLee Martin
EmmaLee Martin is a current sophomore at Martha Layne Collins High School who was accepted into the Craft Academy at Morehead State University. The Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics at Morehead is a dual credit program for academically exceptional KY students. The Craft Academy provides students with a postsecondary residential experience to complete their junior and senior high school years by enrolling in college courses.
When EmmaLee came to Mr. Collins (guidance counselor at MLCHS) and stated she wanted to graduate early he knew this would be the perfect opportunity for her.
When asked who were some of the people that had the biggest impacts on her, she mentioned her mother, who took classes while EmmaLee was in school, her boyfriend, Ms. Brown (teacher at MLCHS) who always helped her with her essays, and Mr. Collins.
EmmaLee is very excited about this opportunity and she mentions that the Craft Academy gives her the flexibility to successfully complete college classes while maintaining an impact on her student body and have all the high school experiences like prom, and walking with her graduating class.
Her future is bright and her end goal is to become a travel nurse and then finish her schooling to become a Nurse Practitioner. When asked what advice she would give other prospective students she states, “Make sure you are right and motivated, make sure you are ready and devoted to your future.”
Congratulations, EmmaLee Martin
