Evansdale Observes Computer Science Education Week with Hour of Code
The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. The Hour of Code event takes place during Computer Science Education Week, December 4-8, 2017. It is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in over 180 countries.
At Evansdale, students will learn how to become computer programmers using a variety of apps and activities. All grade levels K-5th will be participating. Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone or tablet. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.
The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.

Important Holiday Concert Information for Members of Band, Orchestra, and Chorus -
Call Time - Band and chorus students should arrive at Evansdale by no later than 6:00 p.m. Orchestra students should arrive by 5:45 p.m. Performance Time is 6:30 p.m.
Band students should have #s 31, 38 and 39 (A Mozart Melody, Jingle Bells and My Dreydl) prepared for performance. In addition to the appropriate concert attire, students should come prepared with their instrument, stand, and Essential Elements book.
Orchestra students are responsible for bringing their sheet music, instruments, and music stands. Chairs will be provided.
All performers are expected to stay for the entire concert.

It’s that time of year again, our winter book fair is right around the corner. Give the gift of reading this holiday season and support the 5th grade field trip to Rock Eagle. Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.
Book Fair dates: Monday, December 4th – Friday, December 8th
Shopping hours: Monday-Thursday 7:15am-7:45am (before school) 2:30pm-3:00pm (after school) Friday 7:15-7:45am (before school ONLY)
Bonus hours: Tuesday-Wednesday 8:00am-11:00am

- Mme Lewis and Mrs. Petrucelli and all the students for creating the beautiful "coquelicots" (poppies) that decorated the lobby and front hallways.
- Les Jeunes Amis du Français and members of PTA for delivering and passing out madeleines to all of the classrooms and staff.
In other immersion news, on November 15, the 1st and 3rd grade Immersion classes took part in an art workshop with French illustrator, Sophie Glasser. Merci to the French Consulate of Atlanta and the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France for making her visit possible!
