Week 15: November 15-19
A Message from Mrs. Oglesby
We also celebrated Fall Teacher Appreciation Week and our teachers felt the love as they were recognized throughout the week with various notes, treats, and a celebration breakfast hosted by our PTO on Friday morning. On Friday afternoon, we were able to surprise our Teacher of the Year Finalists and recognized them for their commitment, passion, and leadership in their classrooms and on our campus. Please help us in recognizing Coach Emily Keshavarzi, Mrs. Toni Reeley, and Mrs. Becki Smith. Congratulations ladies!
We finished out our week with the much anticipated Fall Dance and it was a huge success! It was so much fun to see our students having a great time as they danced, ate snacks, played basketball, and enjoyed time together just being kids. It was a fun evening for everyone and we can't wait until our next school dance. We couldn't have done it without our 30 parent volunteers that showed up to help chaperone, sell concessions, and dance a little too. Thank you to all of our parent and teacher volunteers!
We have one more week until Thanksgiving Break and the end of the progress report grading period (PR4). Our Student Council is continuing their November Food Drive and are asking that students donate non-perishable food items to the boxes around the school as they "hang up on hunger" this holiday season. New advisory classes for many of our students will begin this Tuesday as we begin to implement our Accelerated Instruction for HB4545. Students will be asked to review rosters posted around school on Tuesday to check for any changes to their advisory classes.
Please remind your students to check the lost and found for water bottles, lunch bags, hoodies, shoes, backpacks, and binders. All items remaining in the lost and found at the end of this week will be donated to a local charity. Let's make it a great week Jags!
Sincerely,
Cholly Oglesby

2nd Annual Pies from Parents
Last year, we sent each SMS staff member home with a "Pie From A Parent" for the Thanksgiving break. The pie drive was such a success, we are kicking off the 2nd Annual pie drive this year. Makes no difference the store: HEB, Sam's, Walmart, Costco, Kroger etc. - any donation will be greatly appreciated. Please drop off your pie(s) at SMS on Thursday, November 18th anytime before 1pm. The signup genius has been created to ensure a good variety but any flavor will do. Thank you for your support in showing our gratitude for our all SMS staff as we head into the Thanksgiving break. If you would like to include a personalized note, we have attached some templates in the document below that you can print an include with your pie delivery.
