White Ribbon Campaign
Sheiko Elementary needs your help!
The school would like to create an Affirmation video with students. They would like the school community to know how much they APPRECIATE EVERYONE WORKING ON THE FRONTLINE. Here's how you can be a part of the video:
Create a poster with an affirming message to people on the frontline (doctors, nurses, grocery store workers, truck drivers, etc.). The poster can include you and your family members or pets. BE CREATIVE!!!
All posters must be ready for your ZOOM class picture scheduled for next Monday, April 13th. Your classroom teacher will give you additional details.
Another way to Support and Affirm our Frontline Heroes: WHITE RIBBON CAMPAIGN
Place a WHITE RIBBON on your front door
Tie a WHITE RIBBON around a tree in your front yard
You may take a picture and send that if you don't want to create a sign.
Sheiko Elementary has many family members in our school community that are on the frontline that would appreciate a message or a ribbon from you. Whatever you do to support those on the frontline, they greatly appreciate it!

Message from Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction Deanna Barash
April 12, 2020
Dear West Bloomfield families,
Thank you for another great week of Cloud Learning, Team WB! We have enjoyed participating in class Zoom meetings, seeing videos of students demonstrating their learning and hearing from many of you the connections your child has been able to maintain with their teacher and other students. We know there have been “bumps” in the road and will continue to seek your feedback to make Cloud Learning both manageable and meaningful.
We have been disheartened to hear about poor choices some students are making while in their Zoom meetings with teachers and students. The purpose of video conferencing is to give students an opportunity to interact with the teacher and their peers in a time when connections are so important. It is a chance for students to get a deeper explanation of the work assigned and get questions answered. Unfortunately, we have had some students who have chosen to be rude and disrespectful during the class meetings. We would strongly encourage you to talk with your children about your expectations and our expectations when video conferencing. The same expectations for the classroom apply when video conferencing: students and staff are respectful to one another. It is that simple. We will continue to monitor the Zoom meetings and will enforce the Student Code of Conduct if needed. Our hope is that if we, parents and staff, share the same message with our students, the poor choices will stop.
Principals have scheduled parent Zoom meetings this week. The meetings are an excellent opportunity to hear about specific plans in your schools and ask any questions you may have. Specific information about how to participate will come from your building principal.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns. Our students and staff are working hard and doing their very best. We hope you and your family are well and safe.
Have a great week!
