Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
Wow! What an incredible first week of school! Whether your child attended in person learning or started their year virtually, I hope they enjoyed getting back to (or starting!) school. I was so impressed with our children and staff. A lot of thinking and planning went in to each part of our day and it was awesome to see it in action.
Even though things looked a little different, it still felt like it always has! Thank you parents for making adjustments and following our new procedures and safety measures. All of our children were responsible with their masks and needed very little reminding. We practiced social distancing as much as possible and washed our hands lots!
I hope our virtual students had a great first week back at school as well. I will miss seeing our virtual kids at school everyday! I hope you are having great success with online learning. Please reach out if you have any questions.
We will be contacting families who have missing paperwork in the next week or so. Please turn in anything needed as quickly as possible.
Better Together is our school theme. During the year we will talk about how we treat one another in our school, in our community, and in our world. When I do morning announcements, I always conclude with the statement "In a world where you can be anything, be kind." Kindness is everything!
During the month of August, our teachers will be introducing our students to PBIS. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. This promotes positive behavior in all areas at Bushnell. Staff members will recognize positive student behavior with green tickets. Students will be able to use these tickets to earn positive consequences (lunch with teacher, toys/trinkets, extra recess time, etc). We want ALL students at Bushnell to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe, and we plan on bringing attention to these all year long!
Please remember to call school by 2:45 with any changes to your child's transportation home!
Transportation
If you have address changes or questions, please contact our transportation office at 987-2540. Also, if your child will be dropped off or picked up at a location other than your home (daycare, YMCA, etc.) please call to let our transportation office know.
First Day of School Parent Homework
Parents will have homework the first week of school! Please completely read and fill out all paperwork your child receives on their first day of in person instruction. Our goal is to have all paperwork returned to school by Thursday September 3rd. Thank you in advance for your help!
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast will be available from our lunchroom and will be taken back to classrooms to eat. Breakfast is $1.10 and lunch is $2.30. Free/Reduced lunch applications can be completed at this site: www.lunchapp.com. Please check the District website for lunch menus, account information, and other food service information.

A medication consent/instruction form MUST be completed by the parent and physician BEFORE any medications can be administered to a child during the school day. Forms are available in the school office or online.
