Congratulations to Mrs. Higgins

Earlier this month, Mrs. HIggins was recognized as a Rotary Outstanding Educator. As you know, Mrs. Higgins provides unique, engaging, hands-on science activities to all of the students in First through Fifth Grade at Lawrence Elementary. She's also instrumental in working closely with community members to enhance the students' learning experiences. Thank you Mrs. Higgins for being a true Leader at Lawrence Elementary.

Parents...Action Required..Please!

As you know, Lawrence Elementary is implementing the Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Surveys will be conducted to learn more about key areas of strength and areas of needed growth in our school. The data from these surveys will also help us track the impacts of the Leader in Me process and implement key practices more fully. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking all teachers, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to participate.

Parent participation is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The parent/guardian survey takes about 12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child’s experiences as you answer questions related to his or her growth.

Thank you in advance for completing the parent survey. Please use this link to complete the survey.

Summer Reading Program

Summer reading is always important but is especially so in these difficult pandemic times. The Livermore Public Library’s Summer Reading Program keeps children active and engaged in learning over the summer and can help them keep up their reading and math skills for the fall.

This year, the library had created videos to promote the Summer Reading Program instead of our usual in-person visits to classrooms. We would greatly appreciate it if you would send these video links to classroom teachers and ask that they show a 3-minute video to their class. There are separate videos for each age group.

This summer, the Livermore Public Library is offering an app-based reading tracking system (and paper gameboards for those that need them) and participants can earn badges and prizes. The Summer Reading program is available for free to everyone, from babies to adults. People can register for the game at now and the program officially begins on June 1. We also have a Community Reading Goal of 3 Million Minutes this summer. Students can track their time spent reading to contribute to the community goal.
