Meadowbrook Weekly Update
March 1, 2020
Important Message from MBMS's PTA
The Presidential Primary Election is on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 and the Meadowbrook Middle School PTA along with the Palomar Council PTA have endorsed Measure P to improve science labs, classrooms, and support career and college preparation for students of the Poway Unified School District. In order for the bond to pass, it must be approved by 55% of voters.
PUSD completed two independent facilities studies of all of the schools in the district to assess their current condition and need for repairs. The study revealed that more than half of the campuses in our district would be in poor condition in just three years. In order to cover the costs of upgrades and repairs, the $448 million dollar bond measure would cover about a third of the cost. If Measure P is approved, PUSD will get an additional $89 million dollars in matching state funds to help maintain our campuses and upgrade safety features to make sure learning opportunities are ideal for our students. Pending passage of Measure P, Meadowbrook Middle School would qualify for projects including campus safety and security improvements, modernization, future-focused learning environments, growth and changing programmatic needs, and energy efficiency.
Please refer to the Palomar Council PTA Website for more information on Measure P and don’t forget to get out and vote.

6th Grade Camp
Parents and Guardians:
It is time to start planning for the Sixth Grade Outdoor Education Program, commonly known as “Sixth Grade Camp.” This program provides a wonderful opportunity for your child to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
This year, Meadowbrook 6th grade students will attend Camp Cuyamaca, located in East San Diego County, the week of March 09-13, 2020. Registration forms are to be turned into your student’s social studies teacher.
The deadline to submit payment for 6th Grade Camp has been extended, and payment will be accepted from February 24th-March 2nd.
The cost for camp is $410.00. Please make checks payable to MBMS. In an effort to provide the 6th grade camp experience to as many Meadowbrook students as are interested, financial assistance will be provided for families that are in need. Inquiries regarding financial assistance may be directed to the MBMS School Secretary, Mrs. Priscilla Simmons, at psimmons@powayusd.com.
Attention 8th Grade Parents
BOX TOPS!
Keep clipping! The Box Tops Drive is still going until June! Each Box Top is worth 10 cents for our school. Remember, there are two ways to earn:
1) Cut out the usual Box Top clips (unexpired) and put them in a Ziploc baggy or on a collection sheet. Drop them in the collection box labeled "Box Tops" in the front office.
2) When you see the new label, use the Box Tops app to scan your receipt. It will add cash to our school’s earnings online.
Lost & Found
Parents: Please stop by and check the Lost and Found bin. It is located just outside the Health Office door at the main office. Items not picked up by Friday, March 6th, will be donated to charity.
