Internal University: Prototyping
a course via the design innovators and thinkers at IDEO
Join the IDEO Internal U course on prototyping!
So what is a prototype?
How does this apply to educators?
- show more than they tell
- do vs. try
- experience AND expect failure
- engage in playful feedback
- communicate visually
- concisely synthesize main points
- storytell effectively
- become an innovative problem solver
- exercise a growth mindset
"A growth mindset, where a person constantly learns and relearns in order to survive and thrive requires validity over reliability; knowing that dead-ends and failure can be learned from to create success." - Roger Martin
You do, you fail, you learn. You do again, you fail again, and you learn some more. Failure is a teacher.

Course Information
The course opens up online next week 10/27. We will meet Face to Face 10/28 after school at 3:45pm. (Time may change due to participants involved).
This will tie very well into NGSS and STEM education!
The course materials are hosted online, but you will need to meet 2-3 hours face to face with your group. You will work through the course with a group of 2-6 people that we will refer to as your “design team."

1-2 hours of individual reading/watching videos ~ 2-3 hours of in-person group work
Prior Experience Recommended:
Design Kit: The Course for Human-Centered Design
NOTE: It is VERY beneficial to have this background, and as this is an Internal University, we don't want to say "no" to any interested staff. Tarah can give you a brief intro to Design Thinking if you feel you'd like an understanding of it prior to doing this course.
