Pizza and candy will be available to purchase for $1 each. Please bring a blanket or low rise chairs for your family. All family members are welcome; students must be accompanied by an adult. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the movie will begin at 6:15 pm. For more information, check out this flyer.

PAC Event Co-Chairs Needed

The Middleton PAC is looking for committee co-chairs for two fun evening events we have scheduled for the spring.... the Middleton Horseshoe Hop Dance on March 10th and the Middleton Carnival on May 19th. Both events have been done in the past and have detailed information to pass on to the next chairs. These have been two of our most popular events in the past, but they will not happen without event committee co-chairs leading the way. Ideally, we would like to have at least 2 co-chairs for each event. If you are interested in getting more involved at Middleton, please consider volunteering for one of these positions; we would really like for the students to get to experience these two fun events this year! For more information or to volunteer, please email middletonpacvolunteers@gmail.com.

Health Room Needs

Our health room is in need of pants for boys. For all ages. We keep extra items of clothing stocked in our health room in the event our students need to change for any reason that might occur.

Lost and Found: We are extending the time for parents to check our lost and found for items left behind through today. If you are in the building attending movie night please take a moment to look through the lost and found if you student is missing anything. The lost and found rack will be placed in the main foyer.

Art Literacy Volunteers

Our fantastic volunteers are ramping up to begin the next round of Art Literacy on January 17th. If you are interested in becoming an Art Literacy volunteer please contact Kristin Beadnell (503-816-0990) or Charlotte Cunningham (503-799-6913) for details.

Kindergarten Open House

Save the date! Kindergarten Open House will take place on March 2 from 3:30 pm- 6:00 pm. More information will be coming in the coming weeks.

Free Vision Screening for All Students

We will be giving a free vision screening to all students at Middleton on Tuesday, February 28. The testing will be done by the Lions Club with volunteers using the SPOT screening devices. The test is painless, is done from a distance, and does not touch your child’s eyes or face.

Results come to us in about a week. Most children pass the exam, and due to the volume of paperwork, we will only send home results for students who do not pass the exam (results sent via backpack mail). If you want a copy of “passing” results, please contact ouroffice to request. Screening results for all students will also go in their school file.

If you do not want your child to participate in this free vision screening (ie, if you want to opt-out your child) please contact our school office. If you have any questions about the vision screening, please call Health Services at 503-825-5093.

Financial assistance may be available if you need an eye exam and/or glasses for your child.

Free Dental Screenings for Children Age Seven and Younger

We will have free dental screenings by local Dentist Dr. JJ Bittner and/or Dr. Kendra Flann at Middleton Elementary on February 24th, for children age seven or younger who have not been to a dentist. This is a screening only and no treatment will be given. You may already have turned in a form to your school to say that your child has been to a dentist, or that the screening is against your family’s beliefs -- if so, your child will not be screened. If your child is screened, results will be sent to you in backpack mail and also go into the student file. If you wish to opt-out of the screening, please contact your school office.

For more information about the screening call Health Services at 503-825-5088. Good dental care contributes to the overall good health of our students!

Character Trait of the Month

January's Character Trait is Responsibility. Being responsible means being dependable, making good choices, and taking accountability for your actions. A responsible person looks out for the well-being of others and understands we have a party to play in making the world a better place. What a great time of year to start fresh with new goals of being more responsible. Teach your kids ways they can be responsible in your home, school, and our community. If you need ideas to teach responsibility with books to read, family activities, or community events let PAC Volunteer coordinator Melissa Horton know. gmpschorton@gmail.com

There are many opportunities to volunteer at Middleton. All volunteers will need to a) complete a background check and b) submit a proof of vaccination or receive approval for a vaccination exception.
