2013 CHS International Fair
Crescent's gym was once again transformed into a mini-Epcot as Crescent students showcased their countries March 13 - 15 in the eighth annual CHS International Fair. Twenty-seven countries were represented and all of the students are to be commended for a job well done.
We had a very successful parent night on Wednesday evening before the grand opening Thursday morning. The gym was filled with parents and members of the community who were amazed at the magnitude of the projects on display.
Judging for the fair took place on Thursday morning and we were privileged to have as our judges, Anderson 3 Superintendent, Dr. Mason Gary, Assistant Superintendent, Mrs. Jennifer Anderson, and former Crescent student and talented artist, Mr. Josh Davis.
We were also pleased to have our Starr-Iva Middle School eighth graders visit the fair and we appreciate the related arts teachers and SIMS administration for helping the visitation to run smoothly.

This novel is one of the South Carolina Young Adult Book Award Nominees for 2013-2014.
Clara and Christian are drawn together from the start and what begins as an intense and loving relationship soon turns to a strangling obssessive nightmare for Clara. When Clara and her father, famous crime novelist, Bobby Oates, leave the city to escape Clara's stalker boyfriend, she hopes that she can begin anew. She soon learns, though, that the ends of the earth may not be far enough to escape Christian or the personal demons that threaten her relationship with her father.

Brain Framing by Linda Karges - Bone
Brain Framing is a book of ideas for thinking about thinking in the classroom, ideas to help us frame the brains of students in ways that are productive, powerful, and personal. This book will help teachers to engage brains in three fresh ways: framing student learning into more personalized experiences that utilize new research on the brain, the body, and the spirit; creating brain-friendly classroom environments that link sensory and cognitive experiences in ways that reduce stress for both the teacher and the student; and organizing content into meaningful chunks and layers that fit into the unique frames of students brains.
